This forum hasn't "turned sour". It's followed exactly how Ranger release went and how each new popular model will go while they are using this reservation methodology. Some people read those posts warning of that, others chose to beguile themselves to believe something else and further still some are salty dogs about it.
People are getting disenfranchised that "their" personal favorite or sought after build isn't meeting their internal pricing/content expectations. This forum was always going to devolve into mud-slinging and s-talking as soon as B&P was released. There is not going to be a mash-up Wildtrak/First Edition/Badlands with every option, infinite interior space, unobtanium GVRW, every transmission and both engines for near base price (or less would be nice, right!)
There was about a 0.001% chance Ford was going to successfully decipher the Da Vinci code of thousands of people with wildly different expectations, especially a group of impassioned people on these forums. Perhaps cut those odds in half for a year decimated by Covid 19.
Ford is making decisions for their product based on what will achieve their optimal goal: Selling cars and maximizing profits
Ford didn't make any decisions to piss of Larry and Zester of Shaboigan Kentucky or any combination of individual antagonization. People on here choose to be offended to not have access to what they "thought" or self-logic their way into making decisions on behalf of a multi-national, multi-billion dollar manufacturing corporation with absolutely zero personal investment or access to the information and issues of bringing a globally sourced product into production.
