Lincoln model on same platform

I've been asking for this sort of thing since before the Bronco I ordered was delivered. It would be nice to have a Bronco with more tech options and a better interior (seriously, call me silly names like "soy boy" all you want, but throw on a metal sort of removable hard top like the 90's versions had, that offer better sound deadening and weather protection, please).

I think some of this relates to me being a Ford-only person until recently - didn't really take into account what else was out there and I finally understand what reviewers have said all these years about the interiors of many Ford vehicles. Sure, it's way better than Chevy or some other brands, but still too much cheap hard plastic.

It’s funny my mom actually wants a Bronco because she likes mine. But I know the noise from the soft top/ hard top would eventually drive her crazy lol. If there were a luxury Lincoln version that’s prob what she’d be getting lol

Two things I’m picking up from this thread is there’s a legit market for a fixed top bronco with a real bonafide lux package.

The Defender does a nice job with the one touch canvas top and Jeep offers the canvas sky top. A hybrid of these on a fixed roof would be a nice option.

I doubt that there would ever be a market big enough for what would end up being a $100k nurtured off-roading vehicle. The Bronco was literally designed around it's ability to open up to nature. What you all want is not a Bronco. Go buy the G wagon you clearly desire.

How many Lincoln badged F-150s were ever sold maybe 30,000? The demand for luxury is often outweighed by practicality and the enormous price tag associated with it.

It doesn't need to be $100k. You can get plenty of "lux" in alternative vehicles for just a touch more than a loaded Badlands. I'm definitely not talking about a G-Wagon, which I find overpriced and frankly hideous looking. I know everyone here loves to hate the Defender, but the interior is a perfect mix - rubber floor for wet/muddy shoes, but really nice leather seats and cleanable but not hard-plastic surfaces. They even remembered to make the back of the fold-down rear seats non-carpeted (looking at you, Ford). The tech is also fantastic without being overdone (I don't want a giant touchscreen and I don't want Tesla-style self-driving).

Honestly I'd probably be in the minority here but a lot of folks were calling for a fixed roof full sized Bronco.

I could see a slot for a upscale Lincoln Mark X (or something playing with off road 4x4) where you get a fixed roof, body colored top with a sun rider soft top that peels the top all the way back. Like the Wrangler has currently. The interior would actually receive upscale appointments with sound deadening etc....

Probably would get some gimmicky ass air suspension that can provide additional 3-5" of ground clearance for off road...blah blah blah....

Even gimmickier new off road tech that never catches on.

Would cost north of $100k to compete with G Wagon.

Would be a total flop.

I sure wish I could gift you 95% of the tech in mine, and have it still operate. They went way overboard on the Base, stupid amount of unnecessary tech in these.

First, let's let Ford catch up on the Broncos they've already promised before they start on a new production line.

I'm sure that Ford has a think tank of marketing majors that occasionally put down their lattes and look at the market for an upscale Bronco, and of there was a market for it, it would happen. The problem is that much of the G-class and Defender market is after the status symbol, and it's going to be difficult to get them to drive domestic. If the Lincoln was a less expensive alternative, they'll see it is "cheap", if it is just as expensive they'll stick with their current brand.

As for the current Bronco being based on the Ranger vs the F series, current mid sized P/Us are as big as the full size were 20+ years ago. Sitting in my Bronco reminds me way more of my dad's '87 Blazer then my sister's '86 Bronco II. My JLUR was more Bronco II sized.

That being said, I think the only thing that would pry me away from my Bronco would be if one of the big 3 domestic manufacturers produced a removable door/top 4x4 based off of their full sized P/Us. I love the interior width of current full size P/Us, had a '15 Silverado, and I ordered a Powerwagon as well as my Bronco because I wasn't sure which one I wanted.

Why do you speak ill of the Bronco II!? It was a good Bronco, based on the Ford Ranger. Much as another Bronco is based on another Ranger.

They should have named the Sport the new Escape. It looks close enough to the orginal that it would work.

The Explorer inherited these problems until it was completely redesigned in 2002 and was a major reason it had issues with Firestone tires and them being under inflated.

The Escape is being slated as a more car like product (esp with the 2023MY) vs the Bronco Sport, which appeals to your more SUV/Squared out styling buyer.

For it to be a Lincoln worth making it would need to have a metal roof. Which means major design work, it's not going to happen for this generation at least.

Maybe for the next generation they can make a metal top without a roll cage, with fancy air suspension and AWD. Which is just an explorer/flex...

Don't get me wrong, I love Bronco IIs. It's the first car I remember riding in, and have great memories of fighting with my little brother for the front seat after daycare.
