I’m not in the “longest” bracket, but I did have mine for 2+ years (just swapped it to a hard top).
For those 2 years, it exceeded my expectations. Other than just washing it with soap and water and nothing else, it looked as good as it did on day one. To be fair, I didn’t take the top down that often, so the wear and tear on the windows and everything was on the minimal side of use.
Anyways, it was a good top and was better built that I expected. It is louder that I would have liked, but it’s to be expected.
Mine is currently at dealer getting warranty work done....been rattling for 6 mo....super annoying. Dealer said they did a few TSBs and are doing minor paint work as well due to the top slight touching c pillar bars.
Beyond that no leaks and it loud inside on freeway drives but that is expected.
2 years in on mine as well and it's held up and I still like it. A couple of the buckles broke that hold the windows in place, replaced by dealer for free.
I See hard vs soft as total pros and cons.
While the soft is a little loud (which can be mitigated) and tends to look like a soggy diaper most of the winter here in Seattle, I absolutely love having the option to go half topless in about 10 seconds during our amazing summers. Going full topless takes only about a minute or two longer with practice.
Given an extra $5K laying around and some more storage at home, ideally I would have both a hard top and soft top.
Just over two years in, no issues. Any vehicle soft top is going to have some noise. But, I drove a wrangler TJ for over 15 years, and replaced its top every 5 years or so. Even when new, if I wanted to listen to a podcast or audiobook on my 30 minute highway commute I had to listen through noise cancelling AirPods on my phone to hear clearly. That hasn’t been an issue at all with the Bronco soft top; on the highway at high speeds I can hear everything just fine, I don’t notice the noise at all. All that being said I’d prefer a hard top for a little more security when parked, but in my opinion the complaints about the soft top are hyperbole.
I got my Badlands in October 2021. Couldn’t be happier with the soft top. I had one of the softies that became unglued at the seams.
It was a few day repair matter - hassle-free other than driving a loaner - and no problem ever since. The full replacement (soft top fabric only - same frame/mechanism) was fully covered under warranty.
This is my first convertible and I regret not buying one 20 years ago.
I ordered my Bronco with the soft top to get it sooner. It worked, after dropping the top MIC top option I got notified of a build date the next day! This was back in December 21, took delivery March 22. I got my TOR top two years to the day of ownership. As much as I like my TOR top, I'm going to miss the ability to fold back and go open air in about 10 seconds.
Since 9/21 and no issues at all. Surprised that it really is as quiet as it is at highway speeds. I have treated it 3 times with RaggTopp protectant and it is garage kept. Still looks new. I'd still take it over the gray plastic roof. Now the mythical MOD top, that would be a different story.
1 1/2 years. Zero issues. Only loud when you hit 68.7mph. Anything less is a non issue. Not one drip of water anywhere. I actually prefer the look over the grey hard top. Both in color and the hard top looks taller just by the way the lines are.
