So I replaced drivers side front axle. I got it to go into housing by the standard pull push method until it went in. But what I’m noticing now is the cv shaft is walking in and out of the splines on the housing. Is this normal? I’ve never really dealt with front 4wd. Haven’t had it back Offroad after replacing, so I’m not sure if it’s working properly. Can someone give me a little insight please

Not sure what you mean by "walking" but doesn't sound normal. I'm wondering if the spring clip didn't set, or if it was damaged.
Are you able to move the inner cup in and out with your hand?

The gap should be 1/8" between housing/seal and dust shield on CV.

If its the passenger side you might have pushed the sleeve in. Otherwise some times I use my Knipex plier wrench to pinch down the ring and make sure its round.

I’ve heard having the gap in the ring face down helps - but that’s never done crap for me

Gotta be lined up straight - which probably goes without saying

If it doesn’t seat after about 4-5 good throws, I pull it out and rotate about 10 degrees (to make sure the ring rotates with the splines and isn't hung). Usually sets by the 4th or 5th rotation, and if not you need another beer

Dead blow. By hand it's unlikely to seat

Hmm - do you have a trick for that?

At first I tried a dead blow but the play in the CV just ate all the force up. I had better luck just slamming/throwing it in

I hold the axle straight and let wifey practice using the deadblow. After my hands recover we swap spots and I send it home.

But it does sound like the UD44 is easier to work with in this regard compared to M210 axles.

I recently just did the m210 swap and received the ford performance front CV axles. They didn't come labeled "Left" or "Right" so I thought "no problem, I'll just google the part numbers." One of the parts websites had the numbers wrong and almost made me install the passenger side axle on the drivers side. The stub shaft on the passengers side is longer than the driver side and wouldn't have properly snapped in.

Maybe double check part numbers just to be safe? Ive always hated axles that just "snap in" as they always fight you going in and out.

I admit, I did the ~exact~ same thing.

Also, tried to put a 210 axle in a 190, and it looks the same way

I think I came across your post about the same issue. Thats what made me stop and verify before I just sent it.
