With temps around the single digits, I've been seeing 13-14mpg on my daily commute. I usually try to stay at 80mph. Filling up every other day right now.

13-14 mpg would kill me and I wouldn't have bought it if that's what my trim level got. That 2" lift and heavier tires contribute to your sucktastic mpg figure! It all adds up which is why I asked about the roof rack, I won't use it on this vehicle as it doesn't need that crap sticking off it.With temps around the single digits, I've been seeing 13-14mpg on my daily commute. Damn, gas here is around $2.89 for cash. I would probably be doing 65mph if it was 4.50.13-14 mpg would kill me and I wouldn't have bought it if that's what my trim level got. I used to get 13-14 mpg in my titan crew cab and I reached the point where I said enough! I rarely used the box, like 2x a year so I sold it and bought a subaru and I've averaging 27.3 mpg.
I accept the bronco at 20 mpg, I'm not thrilled about it, but I accept it.
- my current vehicle annual fuel cost 15,000 / 27.3 x $4.50 = $2,473
- projected bronco annual fuel cost 15,000 / 20 x $4.50 = $3,375
Subtract one from the other and the bronco burns $902 more annually, or $75 per month. I can live with that.
Coincidentally, I cut another monthly expense of $189 per mon, so I'll be ahead by $114!

My Ford Focus commuter has been sitting in my backyard for the past 3 months, I've haven't had any desire to go back to driving it since I got the Bronco.
Smiles per gallon!
Don't know, but some automatics get better mpg than manual. Is the 2.3 automatic on par with the same mpg as the manual ?
Same situation here, lot of these factory workers here hit the tarmac at the same time, and if I don't get on the road before 5am, it's insane. Some of them are likely Ford workers racing to build Broncos, so I can't be too mad.It does better on the open hiway at sane speeds. 21/22 every time.
Sometimes my morning commute , "the pack" is trying to qualify for the Indy 500. Speeds well over 80, which KILLS MPG. I run with the pack, trying to stay at 70mph on those days makes you a liability.
I held around 19.6 avg for awhile, a few tanks at 16-ish killed that.
Supposedly the auto gets a bit better. But, what fun is that?Is the 2.3 automatic on par with the same mpg as the manual ?
Average speed plays a huuuuge role, even on the same vehicle. You can see a 5-6 mpg swing based on driving 76 mph vs 66 mph.Don't know, but some automatics get better mpg than manual.
I suppose it's a topic for new thread?
But there are many factors that make it challenging to make a meaningful comparison!
- 2 door or 4 door
- manual or automatic
- vehicle weight
- final drive ratio
- tire size and weight
- factory suspension or lifted
- any accessories such as roof rack, light bar, etc.
- elevation
- octane
OK... here goes:Thanks in advance!
The trip meter will be off slightly but the mpg should still be pretty close.2.3 manual base with MT
Black diamond takeoffs ATs 265/70R17
18 ish mpg cruising 60-65 with a light foot and regular fuel.
I don't understand how some people are getting 20 miles per gallon??
Has anybody considered the fact that the odometer isn't reading as far as you're actually going? I went from the base 30-in tires to the black diamond 32-in tires. I need to calculate the actual mileage versus what the odometer says.
