There's lots of conflicting posts on mpg and its because it lacks the details that affect fuel economy so it would be helpful if we post this info:

Example:
A - 2.3L with Manual transmission = Yes
B - Average MPG = 21
C - fuel = premium
D - Final drive ratio = 4.46
E - tire size & spec's = 255/75R17 Bridgestone Dueler A/T, tire rack says these are 32" diameter and each tire weighs 35 lbs.
F - lift height = factory

Thanks in advance!

The various tire and final gear ratios are selected by Ford to be almost exactly the same at the ground (4.70 with 285/70-17 have the same effective ratio at the ground as a 4.46 BD with the 32's)

They will all run just about the same RPM at each speed/gear. This difference is weight, minor aero changes, tire width/rolling resistance, etc.

Any tiny differences in effective gearing to the ground you can ignore due to the errors in odometers fuel measurement, calculated mileage vs. fantasy land computer estimate and so forth.

Agree for factory wheels but guys are putting 33's or bigger on their base model with 4.46 ratio.

Stating tire size & spec is helpful because tire size and weight have significant affect on mpg.

255/75R17 are 32" but different tries have different weights and rotational weight has huge affect on mpg, acceleration and braking.

Dueler A/T weighs 35 lbs each
KO weighs 46 lbs each

Factory base model tire is 255/70R16 and weighs 31 lbs. Rim weight is unkown but going from 31 lbs tire to 46 lb tire will have negative affect on mpg.

A - 2.3L with Manual transmission = Yes
B - Average MPG = 21 (11.3l/100km)
C - fuel = Reg (87)
D - Final drive ratio = 4.46
E - tire size & spec's = 255/70R16 Bridgestone Dueler H/T(Base), tire rack says these are 30" diameter
F - lift height = factory

I’ll report back after 285/70R17 Falken WildPeak AT3W, 33’s

Yep especially since every bronco can technically fit 35s.

Why premium fuel?

I can't justify running premium till I get the aftermarket tune, not enough performqnce difference to justify it on a stock calibration, IMO.

Kinda disappointed that my Wrangler with a ~500ho/500tq V6 got the same ir fuel economy. The 2.3 moves the Bronco alright, but I don't like how it requires a significwnt amout of boost to maintain 80mph in 6th. I usually cruise in 5th with my Bronco on the highway, it gets the same milage as 6th since that gear is to much to stay NA. Plus I would rather not have to turbo constantly spooled all the way to work, creating all that extra heat under the hood. The 2.3 has to dump fuel into the engine to keep it happy at 80mph.

Edit: With 4.46, 34ss and 2in lift. A sock BD should be able to hold 6th @80 with little or no boost.

Why premium fuel?
I don't care what type, just let us know what you're filling up with to get the mpg that you're getting.

However, my friend's raptor gets better mpg with higher octane.
