I guess, but meanwhile it’s flying in through the door openings and the open rearSome protect from most rain. However anything mesh will allow water through. So canvas will protect.

On my JKUR, I had the soft top for rain, and a spiderwebshade for sun. The mesh gave an open air feel like driving topless. And was designed to stay on with either soft or hard top. If risk of rain was in the forecast we left the soft top on but folded back.
My son’s TJ had a solid bimini that was more of a pain to install due to the windshield header, and you couldn’t leave it on when putting the soft top up.
Of course the soft top on both of those had quick release bows so taking it on and off was a matter of a minute. Both Ford’s and Bestop’s are a pita to quickly remove. As is the hardtop.
