Some protect from most rain. However anything mesh will allow water through. So canvas will protect.

Here's a pic of the water repellancy of the one I have

I guess, but meanwhile it’s flying in through the door openings and the open rear

On my JKUR, I had the soft top for rain, and a spiderwebshade for sun. The mesh gave an open air feel like driving topless. And was designed to stay on with either soft or hard top. If risk of rain was in the forecast we left the soft top on but folded back.

My son’s TJ had a solid bimini that was more of a pain to install due to the windshield header, and you couldn’t leave it on when putting the soft top up.

Of course the soft top on both of those had quick release bows so taking it on and off was a matter of a minute. Both Ford’s and Bestop’s are a pita to quickly remove. As is the hardtop.

Agree. I believe Ford's is Besttop, and it has that metal bar across it and it flaps like crazy I'm heard. I have the canvas as my wife and son did not like the sun that came through the mesh... also when i parked at golf course for 4 hours, my seats would get blazing hot even with the mesh. Thus I designed a canvas version that is quick to install ~ 2-3 minutes and can keep on all the time with hard top or soft top.
