I have ordered leather because of the extra features and mostly because I am extremely leery of the MGV. Does anyone know of any vehicles that have had this material for a period of time or for that matter at all? I live in MN and am also concerned about the feel in various temps (it needs to handle -40 to 130 degrees). Also every picture I have seen and the ones on the tour had waves in the seat. The staff sited it was because so many people get in and out. Randy Moss would give that a big C’MON MAN, most of us will be getting in and out thousands of times…. What am I missing here?

So question: where exactly is the leather, and where is the vinyl on leather trimmed vinyl seats?

Also, since you get no power or extra adjustability, why do leather seats in a two door cost the same as in a four door?

to my knowledge marine grade vinyl is just the upholstery they use on a lot of boat seats, so "any vehicle at all" the answer is yes, it's widely used. As for road vehicle applications, i believe this would be a first, but I'm far from a car trivia junkie.

as for so many people getting in and out, yea i'd be a little leary of that as well. sounds like spin. Seats are meant to be used, and stretched out leather or vinyl looks like crap. Discovering Katzkin was the thing that finally made up my mind to ditch the BD and get a base

I’ve only had mine three weeks, but the MVG kicks ass. Looks great. Durable. Very comfortable.

I thought the only photos I’d seen of “loose” upholstery were the leather.

Aren't the leather seats only part leather? I thought they were MGV down the middle and Leather on the outer/side panels.

There is a Black Diamond in St Paul, MN at Midway Ford. I drove it about 2 weeks ago. The MGV to me was far more comfortable than the leather. I have been in two different Wildtraks back home in Michigan, both had leather upgrades. I really don't get the appeal of leather in a vehicle like this.

Also, people in shorts have left sweat on the seats. Wipes right off. Wipes off leather, too, but eventually over time will damage the leather. Sweat-soaked kids got in from soccer practice, and I had peace of mind.

Spilled coffee the other day and wiped it right off.

I wouldn't have any durability concerns with the MGV. I didn't really like it though. Just a personal opinion. It has a weird pattern on it and is excessively soft, like that super cheap faux leather furniture at Target and such. I was hoping it would be more like MB Tex or Sofino. Also it was so hot it was almost difficult to sit on, and that was a 60 degree day. I do think it will hold up great though, I didn't notice any quality of wear issues at all. If you are looking for durability I would choose it over the leather.

Opposite, and not MGV. Leather where you sit; vinyl on the sides. Most auto manufacturers do this.

I currently have a BD on order but since I'm now receiving a 2022MY I'm considering moving up to the OBX to get the leather seats and high package. To me, the BD and MGV seats were a compromise to save a little money and not worry about messing up the seats when the kids get a little older. Now that I have to wait I'm going to upgrade and get what I really want. Its going to be city and highway driving 99.9% of the time for me anyway.

I initially went with the BL for the MGV, because I wanted the most durable and easy to clean. Now I would suggest it because of how comfortable it is as well. 6 weeks in and I love it. Super easy to clean, at least as comfortable as my leather Explorer and no more "sticky" or "hot" than leather so far either. As an added bonus, when using the seat heaters, it heats up quickly (yes, I have had topless mornings in the high 40s already and used the heated seats).

I've had leather/pleather in my vehicles since 2004, and never had any problems. They have a clear coating on them, and wipes clean with a damp cloth. As far as wrinkles they will usually clear up after the leather has a chance to cure. But, most vehilces these days don't have enough leather parts to even worry about that.
