Anyone else get less MPG on the highway vs in town driving?
2025 Big Bend - in town driving average 21.9 MPG, but on the highway it drops to 20 MPG.
Normally, in every other vehichle I've owned the MPG increases on the highway.
Thanks!

Normal. It takes more horsepower to push through the air at those speeds.
The sweet spot for my 2 door 2.7 BaseSquatch is 63 MPH, about 22 mpg. Starts dropping above tat speed, 21 at 65 mph.

What engine, transmission, and GOAT mode?

21.9 is pretty damn good around town. I’m happy when I get that on the highway.

When I use the Highway I get 15-16 at about 70-80.. when I drive short trips I get 17-18. I gave up on gas mileage on this vehicle, even though I still try to make it look decent.

When I got it, it was horrible, then I checked the Tires and they were at like 30psi, I set them to factory door spec and gained like 3-4 MPG.

Driving habits obviously play a role. I enjoy “spirited” acceleration around town and my highway mpg is definitely better at moderate highway speeds like 65. The gap closes as speed goes up from there.

80? And you expected better mileage. LOL.

I've learned that at 65 mph, I'll get 24 mpg. (4 door V6, 10spd, 42 psi)....at 75, it's under 22....around town I get around 22.

With my fairly heavy foot I get 15 - 15.5 mpg city driving and that includes some Freeway time. I took a trip to San Diego on the Interstate and was driving mostly 80. I was getting 19 - 20 mpg. I was in traffic and had some advantage from drafting. I was not tailgating but the other vehicles helped move the air for me.

I don't think there is any way for my Bronco to get anywhere near 20 mpg around town. I do think 16+ mpg is possible but I have never tried for that.

All those mpg readings were from the vehicle computer. I have not done any calculations myself yet.

Ecoboost is crazy efficient but bronco design has terrible aerodynamics. We generally drive 60-65 which is the threshold before significant mpg penalties. Secondary roads are ideal for mpg 40-50mph we have seen the 2dr get into the mid 20s on 37s.

The ecoboost always surprises me. With the manual in sport mode, I leave it in 5th gear so I can cruise around 2700RPM at 70 MPH instead of lugging. Tires at 33PSi cold.

I did a 300 mile roadtrip last weekend and was turning almost 25MPG on the computer (lower IRL, most likely).

If your computer is close to mine 25 mpg is probably 23.5 mpg actual depending on environmentals and terrain. ( headwind, tailwind, elevation gain/loss, etc)
