I recently finished my initial "Bronco Bunk" and getting ready to test it out with some overland camping. Basic design is:
- Center beam: trimmed 4"x6" anchored over seat-post bolts
- Fold-up platforms: high-quality 1/2" plywood, with "take-apart" hinges for easy removal
- Flip-up/down leg posts to provide storage area behind front seat
- Finished with 6'x8' stock carpet and padding from Home Depot
I may refine a bit after using some, and still need to figure out best way for extra padding for sleeping on (narrower 42" cargo area makes blow-up mattresses poor option).
Thanks to Desert_Brush, Trigger and others for ideas and inspiration.
