Newbie Question -What gear do I need?

1) Good clothes. Warmer than you think you need. Great shoes to hike out. Able to crawl under your rig if the need arises. Mountains & deserts are cold at night even in summer.
2) Water. Maybe depends on where you are.
3) Air compressor.

would add TP or better yet paper towel....but everyone has those even in the city. don't they?

Air up and down tools: portable to built in compressor, hose system to inflate/deflate
radio: find out what the locals in your area use
quality cooler
good pair of shoes/boots with real tread/sole, not that foamy lightweight cr*p on many shoes today
