Noticed this yesterday while at a Bronco event here in Pittsburgh. The front wheel wells have fairly large openings directly to the engine due to the way the control arms attach. My initial thought was concern for mud, salt, debris, etc.... Legitimate concern or nah? I asked the Ford specialist and they were not sure if they would be open on production Broncos.

Cactus Gray First Edition and A51 Badlands - both had the openings. One other note, I did notice the sasquatch FE had the "crash bars" removed from the wheel wells while the Badlands had them installed.

I thought this was normal. I mean, it’s not like the engine compartment is sealed. If your wheels are neck deep in mud, so is your engine.

As others have said, it's no big deal. The more I can easily see the easier it'll be to clean. I pulled the liners on my offroad truck to make pressure washing the mud off that much easier.

If you think those little openings are an issue, wait until you get a look under the vehicle!!

(skid plates really kill this joke)

I'll go take a pic of the Ranger, but I'm pretty sure that is about how the Ranger and the F150 I had were. No biggie. Both engines are still pretty clean and I've done quite a bit of off-road and mudding in the ranger.

Wait... You can see under the vehicle? Is that where the ball bearings go? I hear it's all ball bearings these days.

Not been an issue in my f150 or wrangler.

Here's my ranger! Seems much doesn't get in there at all.

I'd check my Bronco to see the gap IF it wasn't sitting on Ice Mountain.

<Needed a drink, sorry>
