Create ford performance account
Enter the code that's in the box
Download the app
Plug in the tuner to PC
Update to latest firmware
Take tuner to car and plug in OBD
Turn on ignition (not engine)
After it reads everything and loads the stock tune return to PC
plug back into PC
Enter your ford performance account info and code again
It uploads the stock tune
It downloads the performance tune
Take it back to car, plug in OBD turn ignition on
It takes about 10 minutes to upload tune, you'll get a ton of errors, don't freak
When it says to shut off car for 3 seconds do so
Start back up and Bob's your uncle
Unplug and stash the box

I had one set for thursday but he wanted the truck all day and I just anticipated F-ery so I did it myself. If you really read the warranty it only covers the device.

I am concerned about the warranty on the vehicle.

it seems it would be very easy to trace exactly what was uploaded to the ECU and see it’s a Ford Product Which should not be a problem for the vehicle warranty.

but that would be too sensible, right?

After reading the actually legit warranty claims people have been denied I have come to the conclusion that I bought an as is no warranty vehicle for all intents and purposes.

I am a lifelong Ford guy, but I detest Ford dealers, especially their service departments.

It has been my experience, and shared experience of friends that the dealer service department you work with has a lot to do with honoring warranties. I understand that can be a moving target. That is why I don’t want to lose my legal rights should something get ugly.
