PSI tire pressure on 35's?

Mine were showing around 45-46 when I purchased my Bronco. I dropped it to 35 cold, it's usually around 37-39 after driving around. One is usually a psi higher than the others which bugs me so I need to play with that one. Seems good at this pressure.

So, different tires will have different "optimum" pressures - various sidewall ratings, materials, tread, etc.

Most light duty vehicles (and the Bronco is one of those) run around 35psi as a baseline, +/- from there.

My MT Baja Legends started out at 35 - they were a bit stiff on the Hitachi OEM suspension. I lowered them to 32 and it softened up a good deal. I just got new coilovers, and I just bumped them back up to 35 to see how they ride there.

Based on forum recommendations, I run 34psi in my 315/70R17 Territory tires on 17x8 wheels. Seems to be working well in terms of mpg/wear/comfort. I recently drove 6hrs down and back to see the eclipse, mostly highway driving, and averaged 21mpg in decent comfort. One of these days though, I should hit the tires with some paint, and see where it rubs off most while driving.

I use my Air gauge and make sure that I have it up to 100%.

32 psi here. 25k miles so far and wear is normal. I run very light weight.

I’m running my 35x12.5 on the OEM Sasquatch wheels at 40 PSI. I believe the tire says 50 PSI is where they “should” be at.

They only “should” be at that level if you’re carrying the max load rating of the tire. That’s the max pressure rating for max load.

What would you recommend as a PSI for tires with a max PSI of 50 then? Is 40 still too high? These new tires add an extra 100 lbs or so to the vehicle vs. my OEM Goodyears.

I set mine for comfort especially whenever I'm not loaded for an adventure. I set them at 32. The ride is much nicer.

Yes, too high, especially for a 10-ply on a light Bronco. I run 35 cold. Ignore the pressure they get to when hot. Your TPMS will let you know if one gets lower than the rest. Always set your pressures in the shop or shade before getting them hot.

I would probably run a smidge less than 35 in mine, but they get noisier with lower pressure.

There’s a thread somewhere about how to chalk test to see if your tires are making even contact on the road with different pressures.

Chalk test is the real answer, but it will probably be around 35 psi, +/- 5
