I used carriage bolts to hold down my traction boards. They work great. Didn’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on base plates and mounts and special pins.

So very interested in your first photo where only the "back" part of the roof rack is installed. Was this just for a photo, or have you used the roof rack in this fashion for trips?

I really like the idea of a roof rack that only covers the back section of the hardtop roof, making it easy to remove the front and middle sections for open air driving without having to deal with the stupid factory roof rack removal process.

If the rear only section is well-secured, and can be purchased that way, I think I will buy it.

I got the Bronco and the rack the same day. Three days later I got Covid and sat in my living room and loosely built the rear section and was able to install by myself. Rode that way for a month before having my 18 yo son build the front and I helped him install.

We took the front roof panels off during the install to make it easier and I left them off for a few days, weather man said “ no rain”….they lied and at 11:30pm it started to rain. I was able to get the panels back without incident. Not bad for first time, in the dark and rain.
I think you can just purchase the rear “clamshell” portion of the rack.

I get mine tomorrow, only certain pieces or are they all starting to do it?

Just the bolts, check your bolt heads and see if they have writing printed on them, most likely they'll end looking like mine.

Well I guess as close to OEM as possible to be like Bronco Bolts lol. Any idea if hitting with some black paint / plastidip would help at all?

Yeah that would help, I'll probably switch carriage bolts out for quality stainless steel bolts.

Picked up my rack in person at RCI, luckily they are only a couple of hours from the house. Install went smooth, and I didn't get any of those style bolts that were rusting for others in my package.

Curious if you noticed any increase/decrease in wind noise with this rack? Some manufactures claim reduced wind noise with their roof racks. Thanks.

Nothing more really than the usual hardtop noise. I get more noise from my winch.

Absolutely zero noise. It's perfect for me, I have my cases bolted in through the carriage bolt slots and I have a light bar I'm putting in this weekend
