Good point. Actually, traction-control works like posi in many ways. I wonder if they would aid each other or fight each other. Would be nice if somebody on the forum chimed in who might have put a posi on their rig.

I've never heard of anyone adding posi to a 4WD vehicle. Only lockers and limited slip. Isn't posi more for hot rods?

Yeah... I think posi might have been a GM thing then inside GM -- a Pontiac thing for the muscle cars.

But Yep... I am talking about standard limited-slip diff.

Particularly for those of that are on the older side of life, we remember when 'posi' quickly became a generic term for all limited slip axles, despite the manufacturer. Its just easier to say and everyone knows what you mean. Kind of like Kleenex, Xerox, Q-tip, etc.

Ok, that makes sense.

My understanding is that a locker is better for rock crawling. An LSD is better for most other things such as rain and snow.

Though if you're driving in thick snow (unplowed road), a locker might be better.

If you watch Matt's Off-road Recovery on YouTube, he has limited slip on the rear axle of his Jeep Cherokee, The Banana, and he swears by it. It certainly is a very capable Jeep....but I'm sure at times there is the magic of video editing at work.

Believe his Morrvair is running a limited slip in the rear as well. I highly doubt they're editing videos every time they rock crawl in lieu of running a rear locker...

I can confirm (in-person experience) that both the Morrvair and Banana excel off-road with their limited slip rears. There is no editing magic going on to make them look better than they are (they’re just THAT good)

Oh yeah, absolutely capable trucks, both of them. I actually think Matt likes to show his fails in their videos. But I'm sure some things get cut out in the interests of time or being consistent with the story line...not necessarily to be deceptive. Watching a truck flounder while high centered for an hour is not very entertaining.
