I did not catch that you are in Canada...Scepters are easy to find and not expensive up there!
Are you talking about the green MIL spec ones? Not the "military style" ones that are 1/3 the price?
I don't think they're recommend water though...

Why not put a length of 1 in nylon strap in the handle to carry it?
Well, if that the train of thought, why even by Rotopax at all? Lol
I commited to these 2 cans years ago...
I should of looked at the cost of mounting them back then

That is the correct one...lots of good reviews on 4runner forums and other overlanding forums. I prefer the squat version...10L (see pic). Most people down here get them from Canada (ebay, etc)...we pay a lot more than you should be able to find since you are local.

Have you considered mounting them to the other side of the L bracket? It looks like they would work in either orientation that way.

That's clever thinking of you... I'll have to check that.
But the way I'm mounting it on my cooler slider platform, I need the bracket footprint underneath the cans. Basically, the smallest footprint possible.

Price and the small capacity tanks are why I don’t bother with Rotopax. $80 USD for a 2 gallon, not including mounting hardware, then get shafted on exchange rate and duty fees. Why, when you can get a 20L military style can from CT for just over $30 CAD

It must be said though, the MIL spec Specter's at Princess Auto are $100+

Your nailed it.... So they made the L bracket to only be used in this manner, not both sides... Still a serious short coming IMHO.
This just won't work in my setup though

Not sure what you're talking about, I see these on massively over-modified Jeep Gladiators all the time! About 4-6 rotopax jerry's strapped down the sides of the bed rack just under a massive overlanding tent.

That stuff all gets used! And we're talking about every.single.weekend use! Not just on the way to/from the fertility clinic to stock up on little blue pills.

Note: it took effort sorting through page 1 google results for a Gladiator that wasn't red, black or gray. Apparently these are the colors that speak to Gladiator owners

I think you would enjoy the Facebook group "I came here to argue about overlanding."

I took a reasonable look at them and decided on the military special. Plastic HD 5 gallon jug with a spanner wrench. Same with the gas cans, because screw rust. They're starting to get expensive and the mounting solutions are a bit more difficult. But a pair gets you 10 gallons. Actual capacity tied down the bed/back of the truck sure beats 2 gallons on cool mounts. Sorry you gotta deal with that, some stuff really is a gimmick.

I only had to buy it once for the Wrangler, a lesson learned. Not even Ikea instructions. The dumbest thing I ever stuck on my Jeep.

@WuNgUn I always figured Rotopax must be the gold standard. Thanks for the heads up, now I'll consider other options before I get invested in it.
