I intend to paint or powder coat in black my beauty ring. From what I have heard powder coating is more durable but cannot be touched up if I scratch them. Paint is the opposite. So what people recommend?
Also, are the stock Sasquatch wheels painted or powder coated from the factory? Because I might as well match that.

If you are not planning on going off-road and don't hit curbs (like my wife) then powder coating is better - will be maintenance free.

On the other hand, if curbs and off-road rocks are in your future, then painting might be a better solution for touchups. Depending on your weather, they'll need to be redone more or less often.

Powder is 10x more durable than rattle can. If you did a 2k paint, that would be more durable than rattle can but powder is still going to be more durable than both.

Assuming Utah weather, what is more or less often? When you say re do you mean scratch them and remove old paint and re paint, or just clean then add a layer?
Here is the thing, if I have to remove all rings and paint everything 2-3 times a year I would rather powder coat. If I can expect it to last 2 years no pbm then I would paint.

As for off roading I won’t be doing rock crawling as a hobby. Now I will off road on medium trails to go camping to places in Moab and Colorado for sure.

I don’t hit curb.

Would powder coating not be more durable though?
In dealing with both options.... Many times... No. A scratch is a scratch If something is scraping your paint, it'll scrape the powder too. Maybe slightly less noticeable...but will require a fix either way if you care to fix... So I'll just be steel wooling my rings, adhesion promoter, primer and paint.

So, powder coating will probably last as long as you own the vehicle. Paint probably every 2 or 4 years assuming proper prep.

Thanks. I always assumed powder coating was more durable.

It is to light surface scratches and maybe rock chips from SOME flying rocks and shit...but what the bronco is meant for?! You rub it on something....paint or powder, it's still coming off.
