vw had a similar program for the golf R.
for some bizarre reason, vw corporate only brought in a tiny number (~ 200 total), but the custom colors were a mere 3000$.

pretty similar pricing for audi as well, so 6000$ upcharge seems pretty high for a domestic manufacturer.

i would be interested in a custom color if it were similarly priced to the vw/audi program.

For the Renault, a company that has no provision for custom painting, it's approximately $70,000.

Apples to apples here, Ford has no provision for custom painting and diverting their supply chain on an individual basis. Their actual price might be well in excess of $70K once you factor labor, materials and paint color conversion time in the booth.
No, you are interpreting the article incorrectly. The base price of the car is approx. $70k. The specialty paints are $6k. The black or gold wheels are about another $1k. Go actually use the configurator. I just built a base model A110 for €67230 or roughly $82000.

Mystichrome seems like an an inappropriate paint if you're planning on going off road and expecting pin striping.

I know it's Maaco and your mileage may vary, but when spitballing the idea I got a quote for 2,500 (labor only) for a 2 door Bronco (just the body, not the roof). I am thinking a private shop might be around 3,500-4,000 but that's a guess.

Volkswagen managed a 45 color palette on the 2019 Golf R, the 5 normal colors plus 40 limited edition ones. Almost tempted me into trading in my 2013 to get a new color. It wasn't a huge upcharge, $2500. For my choice of 40 custom colors on my Bronco I could just about justify that.

Offering something like custom colors is something you offer to stir up demand. In regards to demand this thing us a Cat 5 hurricane. No need to stir up anything.

Why not vinyl wrap it? When you get tired of the color take the wrap off.

I love the Cyber Orange but it’s too yellow for me.

I plan on wrapping it a satin copper color.

During quarantine I got bored and wrapped my Tesla. Cost me $1200 in materials.

Currently a limited number of high-end auto manufacturers offer a European Delivery program or historic color pallet that customers pay a bit more and get a custom build or color. Typically these are Germanic brands such as BMW, Audi, RUFF, Porsche.

Now that type of program has "trickled down" to Renault. Now, whatever you feel about a government subsidized mainstream manufacture (talking about Renault, not Ford, obviously), it's amazing that they are offering a custom color pallet.

First model year ONLY, 26 different colors to pick from, and a limited run of only 110 made in any of the 26 colors (a play on the car's model number).

How many of you would be interested to pay a premium for that sort of individuality?

Here's the A110 program, and I think a huge number of people on here have expressed interest in paying more for a custom color. Time to put that money where your mouth is!

https://jalopnik.com/alpine-has-successfully-weaponized-nostalgia-again-1845907104

At only a $70,000 mark-up from a standard A110, I bet Ford could get that number down to less than $50K mark-up for custom paint on the Bronco. Okay, who's with me? The griping and moaning about custom colors ends here, lets get out the checkbooks and show Ford what we're willing to pay for!
Okay, we got 1 other person in for the extra $70,000 paint charge!
Yea, but this is what it costs to divert global supply chain manufacturing to the individual customer needs!

Heck, yellow seat belts in a 911 are over $2,000.

There was a LOT of bitching and moaning about Ford not catering to individuals on here. This is the way forward people! Didn't you want the $200,000 personalized Bronco?

Can we at least still be butthurt about the grab handle colors and Ford not supplying a colored ink pen?
I genuinely used to chuckle at your posts, and even sometimes at your trolling.

Now you're just that kid on the playground that got some laughs at a joke and used it every day on everyone that now it's just tired.

What are you hoping to accomplish by taunting? I don't get it.

For the record, I agree with the fact that people griping about colors should just pony up and pay for what they want, instead of expecting everything from the factory. But your approach is exhausting.

Haha, not much of a DIY guy! But sounds like a fun weekend activity for someone who, I guess is

$0 did it myself.
I didn’t measure right the first time and ran out of material. Drove around for a few days with white bumpers (original color of car) until more material arrived.

Watched a ton of videos on YouTube. CK Wraps is a good starting point

I've given thought to wraps. If I did go that way I'd pick Oxford White as the base color as it's easiest to work with. A bit of white here and there peeking out is easy to deal with than say Cyber Orange parts.
