Should Ford implement limited custom color program?

$0 did it myself.
I didn’t measure right the first time and ran out of material. Drove around for a few days with white bumpers (original color of car) until more material arrived.

Watched a ton of videos on YouTube. CK Wraps is a good starting point

I've given thought to wraps. If I did go that way I'd pick Oxford White as the base color as it's easiest to work with. A bit of white here and there peeking out is easy to deal with than say Cyber Orange parts.

My Tesla was originally white and due to panel gaps the size of the Grand Canyon, I had to vinyl wrap some of the door jambs, inside the trunk and hood with black vinyl. The white peeking thru was driving me crazy.

Good point. Black could be better. But I'll never own a black car. They are too hard to keep clean.

Volkswagen managed a 45 color palette on the 2019 Golf R, the 5 normal colors plus 40 limited edition ones. Almost tempted me into trading in my 2013 to get a new color. It wasn't a huge upcharge, $2500. For my choice of 40 custom colors on my Bronco I could just about justify that.

I was gonna try and get a Spektrum car with my Ex... that never happened. Would have been cool to have the Aqua Teal, Orangy Orange, Purple or Green

They offered, I would have done it, although at this point, I can wrap

Limited custom colors would of been a nice idea to do on the First Edition. But after the addition of black interior, I'm not complaining. I might of paid a extra grand or two for Boxwood Green.

Is the painting process fully automated? In that case I wonder why Ford doesn't add more tanks of their other paints, and do some runs with those colors. Maybe with an upcharge. Seems like they are leaving money on the table. I mean it's not like some guy has to manually spray the car, taking hours and lots of time for a different color.

Let me choose from this palette for $2k and I'm in for Highland Green. Why does the Bronco get so many shades of grey and not more fun ones like the Mustang?

you read my mind. I had an Audi that was special paint color from factory. Was like an additional $2k or something. Some knuckle head rear ended me at a stop light in a retired police cruiser with the push bar on the front. The insurance company ended up totaling my car partiality because of the paint color. My car was only a yr old. I’m glad they did because it would never would have been right.

Haha, not much of a DIY guy! But sounds like a fun weekend activity for someone who, I guess is

It’s not so bad. I don’t know about wrapping an entire car as that’s very challenging around certain areas. But once you get the hang of it, it works out pretty well. I laid out, cut and put stripes on my Challenger with no issue.
