Yes, it absolutely reads the signs and the adaptive cruise control adjusts accordingly to your settings . For example, I set my speed limit to 5 miles over the speed limit. I'm I'm going 70 and the speed limit changes to 55, the cruise control will drive at 60 until I tap the brakes to turn off. I have this in my '21 Bronco Sport as well. It's similar to lane centering. There is a front facing camera behind the rear view mirror (if your vehicle has this system) that scans the road in front.

Your Bronco Sport has all those features, but your mid size Bronco does not.

Did you just call the Bronco “mid size”?!? ;)

I guess I’m no better than the Bronco’s camera since I ignore most of the speed limits signs too!

Dang, all this time I thought it was the Jewish space lasers beaming the speed limit info into the 5G signal I have in my blood from the trillion dollar Operation Warp Speed clot shot that then sent the data to my ACM.

I still think I'm right, regardless of the evidence you present BTW.

Pshhh..... My Speed Limit Reader (my wife whom I love and is always right 😁 ) is on the ball in telling me what the speed limit is in live time.

She also offers a killer "pre-collision" alert as well 🤪

I've not done any research on this beyond reading this thread. But, I have noticed while driving "off-the-grid", where I get a message about the Bronco unable to connect the the network. (which means its outside AT&T Mobile coverage), the speed limit display either disappears or does not update. This leads me to believe that it uses GPS and not cameras.

I noticed this too. The street in front of my place recently upped the sign by 5mph from 30 to 35. My Bronco still reads 30mph but the loaner 23 F150 shows 35mph.

It displays the speed limit “sign” based on two inputs:

a) The NAV system itself has the posted speed of major roads
b) The front-facing camera is able to detect / recognize speed limit signs on the side of the road.

Source: Spoke with one of the Ford engineers who was on the team responsible for this system, on an August 28th customer Bronco clinic.

I've driven everything that Ford offers. I've noticed no difference in the way my speed sign recognition works compared to any other vehicle.

That being said, it is possible the workshop manual is wrong. But I've never once came across any information or training that said speed sign recognition was based off of GPS instead of the IMPA for any Ford vehicle.
We went to MI last week and mine (high package with lane keeping turned off, all modules currently at latest level) did not display the posted limits. Fairly certain it's using some sort of database in the navigation system which isn't live. My connected navigation subscription is currently active and up to date. I know when that expires on other vehicles you lose the traditional navigation function and defaults to more of a current location view.

Yeah I would agree after watching it more closely. There is also another thread which shows that traffic sign recognition is completely disabled in forscan.

I’m guessing this is just Ford copy and pasting the wrong information into the WSM from other models.

On morning commute today. Correctly identified the drop from 55 to 45 to 35 and 25 when I turned onto a side street. That street becomes a township road and the display stayed at 25 while passing 3 35 signs.

T intersection where only road sign is 90 degrees right and I turn left. It properly displayed 45. Turned onto interstate entrance ramp and with no sign in sight immediately displayed 65. Since ramps have lower speeds than highway this is obviously pulling from satellite and not camera.

He was wrong. That’s how just about every other top trim Ford does it, but Bronco is NAV only.

I'm curious if they had the intention of giving the Bronco Intelligent ACC, but then decided against it for some reason. Would make sense for all the misinformation on Ford's side. Who knows though
