SSM 51754 2023 Bronco/Ranger/Explorer - 2.3L Engine - Loss Of Coolant With Coolant In Oil - Built On 27-Mar-2023 And Through 18-May-2023

Some 2023 Bronco/Ranger/Explorer vehicles equipped with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine and built on 27-Mar-2023 and through 18-May-2023 may experience a loss of coolant with coolant in the oil. This may be caused by a cracked engine block. If this condition is present, replace the engine long block assembly. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-01. For claiming use causal part number 6010 and applicable labor operations in Section 06 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Check the level on the coolant reservoir (level indication lines on the side of the reservoir). If the level is good you should be OK. If the level is low pull the oil dipstick out and get a look at the oil on the stick. The appearance of anything milky colored would indicate coolant in the oil.

This makes total sense. We just picked ours up 2 weeks ago after the wait and we’re in this range with the 2.3l…. Just what I want is a brand new truck that’s had an engine swap

2 birds with 1 stone , pull that bad manual trans and bad 2.3 engine at same time for replacement, go ford go . Is it 1963 or 2023 , hard being a ford loyalist these days

seriously…this on top of the terrible initial quality and the repairs on my due bill, plus a day 1 warranty claim on the hard top, I’m considering just insisting Ford buy it back and just move on

I haven’t checked how to confirm. Is it a build date? I know it doesn’t yet have the grinding noise when cold, but it also has only 160 miles on it.

There's a tag on the trans...there's been so many updates I'm not sure exactly the suffix letters but I believe they are AB for the updated. This thread has all the pertinent info...

I haven't taken delivery of mine yet but missed the build date period thankfully. I liked the 2.3L in my Ranger thus why I went that route. Hopefully itll stay somewhat reliable
