I kind of think you met the challenge. It clearly specified ocean. Gulf of Mexico is not an ocean.

That is a spurious claim. Gulf of Mexico is not even tangibly connected to the Atlantic Ocean. If anything, the Gulf of Mexico is part of the Caribbean Sea. If you are going to claim one is part of another than they at least need to share a "boundary".

You could make the argument that all oceans except Arctic Ocean are part of the Southern Ocean aka Antarctic Ocean. The 60 degree southern latitude defines the Southern Ocean which the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian share a boundary.

Technically its a "marginal sea of the Atlantic Ocean" which will further muddy the water when you dig into what that means
