We called Ft. Gordon - Ft. Boredom...
It was fun being in about a 50-man Marine detachment on an Army base though. All 4 branches (plus foreigners) attended schools there, and they'd all stop and watch us march to/from school every day. (Most of us were less than a year out of boot camp, so we still knew how to march [chuckle].) Oh, and we had a beer garden outside the barracks - picnic tables and trash cans all painted red & gold. Lots of good times there.

Veteran from the US Army
Just shy of 10 years (9 years and 9 Months)
Stations:
Ft. Jackson, SC (Basic, AIT, plus I worked at MEPS)
Ft. Bragg, NC (4 years)
Camp Casey, ROK (1 year)
Ft. Huachuca, AX (only 90 days for training)
Ft. Bragg, NC ( 88 days before 13 month deployment)
Bagram AFB, Afghanistan (13 months)
Ft. Bragg, NC (about 120 days)
Ft. Hood. TX (11 months for training)
Ft. Bragg, NC (63 days before deployment)
Camp Taji, Iraq (around a year)
Ft. Bragg, NC (about 100 days to process out)

Needless to say I got to see a lot of the best parts of the world :)rolleyes:(n)). Friends of mine get Germany, Hawaii, Italy and Alaska, one was even stationed at Arlington as an Honor Guard. I got nothing fun!

I started as a mechanic (63B) then I went off and did some other things that needed done. Nothing to special, just stuff. I also did AB school at Ft. Benning during my first trip to Bragg, but I don't remember the dates.

I use to play the TOP GUN video game for my Nintendo (I am old as dirt as my kids tell me) in order to pass the third mission you had to refuel mid mission. I totally sucked at it, never did get to the 4th mission. Your job sounds cool, but I don't think, based off of my gaming, I would have been very successful at it. o_O

I spent countless hours on that very same video game, and also had my fair share of struggles. But, I assure you, that real life air refueling is way easier to master!
