What are your thoughts on future models of the Bronco adding a retro flair from the 1990s that include:
- A pull-down tail gate rather than a swing tail gate.
- Roll down rear window that goes into the pull-down tail gate for a hardtop option.

Just basing this on the 1990 Bronco my dad still has.

This was talked about at-length on this forum back when they announced the Bronco in 2020.

Personally, I'd like to see both, even as someone who admits those rear window motors were finnicky back in the day and prone to failure.

But I also understand why the Bronco team didn't do either.

Transforming the rear into a tailgate would be outstanding. Making it hold and hide the rear glass would be the cherry on top. There really aren't any other body modifications that make sense to me. When I sit back and imagine what a B7G Bronco would look like it gets all fugly.

You took the blog post out of my brain. Only addition I would add to the list would be factory bumper mounted swing gate for spare

Yes....that would be another feature I forgot about that would be great to have.
What about the tailgate that both folds down and opens like a swing gate and still has a window within it. That would be rad as well.

It will take a substantial re-engineering of the rear tub structure, the hard top, and the tailgate. The glass in the tailgate can be a pain in the butt. I have a '78 that has had issues with the tailgate glass so I'm familiar with some of the issues.

That said, the 78-96 style tailgate does have some nice features, I just doubt Ford will ever go back to that style for the Gen6 (or 7, or 8 . . . !)

It feels like a big stretch to me to call anything from the 1990's "retro".

And to do what you're asking, you would either have to eliminate the spare tire, or find a new place to put it. The Sasquatch tires won't come close to fitting underneath or inside anywhere and double so on the 2-door. So, stick it on the roof?
