The red circle. So the diode is part of the package. Thanks! Looks like it's a snubbing diode included in the package to subdue inductive kick incase it's driving an inductive load like a relay or solenoid.

I can't tell if you're trolling or are confused...

Inside the red box is the transistor. There are no additional diodes... Inside the green box is the rear dome light circuit board. I did make a mistake in my previous post, but it doesn't affect how you connect it. I dont think the diodes on the circuit board are not LEDs, else the symbol would have a couple arrows coming out to indicate light emitting. Those must be the diodes on the circuit board prior to the LED.

Anyway- just connect a lead where the purple line is on the circuit board to the G on the transistor. Yellow wire in harness to S and run D to the new LED lights. Pretty easy tbh.
Do you have a picture of the G connected to the circuit board? Did you solder the wire to the circuit board?

Alternatively, could you remove one of the surface mounted LED's and solder a pigtail to the positive and negative and run lights from it ? I want to try it but don't want to sacrifice my light.

No, this is a N-channel, will burn circuit! You guys better be careful …to not catch a fire! Use the same model as I mentioned above
Thank you, I have a basic, understanding of circuits and soldering, but not when it comes to something this technical. The Walmart order no longer matters because I found out today that I got drunk the other day and ordered a DVD of ski patrol off eBay and that was making up my Walmart order for free shipping Lol
