Was wondering if anyone was running Premium Fuel consistently. I know with the price of gas it may not be the best option. I filled up three times and set the Trip counter to keep track of it. I have also shown a picture for overall May not be as scientific as it could be but here are my results. I will say I do have the Base 2Dr model running stock including 16in Steelies with factory issued tires. It is my daily driver.

I find that I get ever so slightly better mileage on 91, but the added mileage didn't counteract the math of how much gas was. I still run 91 in the summer here, since it's a turbo motor, and they tend to start knocking and pinging when the temps get up there.

There is certainly more power with the Premium Fuel. I have the 2Dr Manual and it was quite noticeable when I first switched to Premium. I am going to stick it out to at least 1000 miles on the Trip 2 timer.

I've run a couple tanks on 93 and I think I can 0.5 mpg better.

I am getting another mile (1) per gallon along with the quoted 25 hp. At least it feels peppy with the Premium (Costco) fuel I am using. Full disclosure, I am a paying member but do not own any Costco stock at this time.

Well we should've bought stock a few months ago. It's sad when my badlands is my "economy" rig that can drink the cheap stuff. Between my diesel truck, RV, and boat, I've stopped looking at the totals, and just count how many swipes of the card it takes to fill up.

premium actually doesn't have more power... just run what the book says. unfortunately in Nothern Colorado, there is not 89. you have to blend it yourself if you feel like it at the pump. X gallons of 91, X gallons of 85. PITA.
While you’re right about premium not having more power in most vehicles and I agree we should dispel that misconception. These motors change their power output based on the octane of fuel detected. IIRC like +25hp. Someone correct my correction please if I got anything wrong.

I can only go by feel with how I am driving. My 2.3L likes the Premium better than regular fuel. Maybe when I get to the 1000 miles on the Premium I can do the next 1000 miles on 89 to compare. That would shave about 20c a gallon, depending where you live. With any fuel you use I will say on the highway that Cruise Control is your friend. Seems very efficient on this Ford 2Dr, 2.3L.

I found a Car and Driver article saying as much. With regards to the 2.3L rated at 300 Hp but will do 275 Hp on 87.

I used to go back and forth between 89-93 octane in my 2.0 Fusion but when prices got stupid I went to regular. It feels smoother with higher octane gas but the MPGs are the same. In my 2.7 Bronco all I e put in it is regular and won't be using premium until prices drop more. I would like to run a tank of 93 in it to see difference in power.

It could be worse though. My brother is running 100 octane at $10 a gallon in a heavily modified 850bhp naturally aspirated Viper. I think it gets like 10mpg lol.

2.3 auto here.. 660mi of just 87 octane so far. According to the dash Im getting just under 16mpg. My calculations when I fill up are around 20 however. My low fuel light came on this morning and Im making a 500mi trip this weekend and going to try 93 to see if it changes.

I'm at about 5200 miles and have only run 93 octane. Averaging 18.4

Same, except that I'm getting around 15 mpg. I have the Panda Power Module, run colder plugs and have been very pleased. I don't really care about getting better mileage, so I probably shift at higher RPM's than most would, but have fun doing it.
