VW Scout EV coming in off-road capable SUV and Pickup forms

There is a company that has already created an EV scout. Note the name of the company and the obvious brand logo on the steering wheel - Equus is latin for horse and they use a horse brand (though not bucking like the Bronco). Then note the URL blatantly using 'Scout' and the obvious design elements of the Scout II.

Too each their own, but scrolling through the gallery they do have renders of the SWB version. I look at the LWB Moar Door the same as I do the Moar Door Bronco. They are both cringe worthy. Now, I would rather a Scout 80/800 version, the SWB Scout pictured from Equus would scratch my itch for an EV get around. It doesn't have to be offroad trail worthy as my Bronco. I have that in my garage.

I thought I had read that Ford made a move to Trademark the name Scout....I wonder if they did and if so if they are not a silent partner in any organization using that trademark.

Equus is a luxury car manufucturer that hand builds each car... they've made their money thus far by building 70's Shelby/Mustang knockoffs, and I don't think this abomination will be any different... it will not be a competitor to anything in this segment, And if they try and actually use Scout as a model name, I'll bet they get sued out of existence...

What it boils down to is VW has control of the assets of International Harvester, which allows them access to the Scout name (which would have been kept in control by trademark fillings) and most likely derailed Ford from calling the Bronco Sport the Bronco Scout.

Furthermore, the mid sized pickup that is based on the next Gen Ranger isn’t going to be sold in North America (well at least The US) because of agreements with Ford.

The Scout looks like it will be similar to the Bronco Sport and Maverick.

Based on how long it's taking VW to get the electric Microbus (ID.BUZZ, oof) to the U.S. market, we'll all be dead before we see an electric Scout from VW.

My brother had a Scout years and years ago, and that was a kool ride! We took the metal top off, which then became a true convertible, and we cruised!! That's what the Bronco does for me, brings back good memories! Too bad it isn't a true convertible, but I'm happy being able to take the doors off!

What I meant to say was the Scout had no roll bar/obstruction from the windshield back, like a Camaro convertible, that's what I remember of the Scout!

Ford made the original Bronco, Chevrolet the K5 Blazer, and Internat...Navista...Trat...Volkswagen made the Scout...

Actually, only IH made the Scout 80, Scout 800 and Scout II. it did not survive in production during Navistar

3 years old and in that time VW learned that they own the name and all they have to do to protect it is tease us.
