2010 f150, 2017 Explorer, and 2020 Escape. All use a 5 digit code.
My 2011 F150 has a 5 digit code, too.

I don’t like the look of it. If it was integrated into the door like many other fords I would pay and add it.

Dated is using a physical key and put it in to unlock the door.
How do you open the door when the battery is dead? BFH on the window?

I will have the doors off for 90 percent of the time anyway so it is useless for me

My F150 has been telling me my key fob battery is low for the past 5 weeks now. 2016 and still the original batteries. Finally got weak enough where I couldn't remote start from inside the house so just changed the battery today had it not been for that I probably could have gotten several more weeks out of it.

Back on topic, I have the keypad on my truck and so does the wife on her Flex and we have not used either of them once. But both of our rides have the proximity locks where you just touch the door handle to unlock.

As far as the ugly appearance and not being integrated, the only thing I can figure is that Ford puts they keypad (and not the touch pad) on their trucks to accommodate work gloves. That's my theory anyway.

How about a fingerprint scanner? Proven tech - works well on computers and phones. Would be easier to make less noticable on the vehicle body as well. Potential issue would be inclement weather causing issues reading.

I’ve loved it on my last three Fords. Works great for when the kids need to get in to grab something. I don’t need to hand them the keys. The Ford Pass app has made this feature nearly completely unnecessary as I can lock and unlock from the phone but having the option is nice. Hopefully it will be on the B pillar and not as we’ve seen in the images.

You can buy it with your FordPass Points and have it installed at the dealer after purchase. This way you can have it installed where you want. IIRC the factory one gets installed here.

You don't get it as a factory option because this is where they mount it. Buy it afterwards and mount it on the inside of the gas door....Genius
