My 4WD Explorer has an attached top with sunroof AND V8. If it was a convertible I would be modifying it more instead of buying a Bronco. I actually did consider cutting the top off lol. It is way more capable than anyone gives it credit for.

Well if the top did not leak or have defects maybe you would like it as is? I have no issues with my top- no leaks, drafts, etc. maybe it's just luck of the draw. I'll more than likely never take the top off- it's too heavy for my wife and I to lift it off and I have absolutely no where to store it, even briefly. But I like that it does have a removeable top- and also the removeable roof panels too. It's just a really cool feature. What I did expect is that there would be a soft option and it would be pretty much available- even on the 2 door- which there is not.

What did you want him to say? The removable top is THE distinguishing feature on the vehicle. It is what separates the Bronco (and a Jeep) from the 4-Runner, Land Rover, FJ, Bronco Sport. The choice to get a removable top or not should be one of the first decisions you make when choosing an off road vehicle.
While I'm not against the option of a fixed top, it seems along the lines of people wanting the image of the Bronco but not the reality. Vehicles (and other things) can get ruined going down that road.

See I’m the opposite. I wish there were more SUV/Trucks with removable tops/doors to give options to people who really will not use any of the offroad capabilities of the vehicle but just wanted a fun open air experience. Which was me … at first …

Now I’m glad I did get an offroad capable vehicle because that’s what I love most about the Bronco.

Food for thought for everyone on Bronco6G and this goes beyond a fixed roof, so include cup holders, etc.

This is the only 1 of 2 “true” off-road street legal vehicles left. Toyota is doing everyone a solid with the new Land Cruiser, the Lexus OverTrail, and the soon to release new 4 Runner and all are full of creature comforts for the carpool lane to the trail with a few compromises, but more than enough for most even current Bronco owners.

Only the Bronco and Wrangler push ahead in a more primitive set up for the purist enthusiasts among us, which includes a mod top and removable doors. The mpg is bad, it makes sounds, but loves to hit the dirt!

We’ve even seen what happens when manufacturers screw up and sell too many niche vehicles to the consumer crowd, who barely go off-road, need creature comforts, and are consumed with thoughts of image over substance. Example A. the Chevy Blazer. Maybe the biggest example of all is the entire line of Land Rover and Range Rover, since now that their overpriced luxury SUVs never leave pavement now come outfitted with 22” wheels and no off-road tires and only traction control. Even bastardized the Defender of all trucks!!!

Ford initially ignored this consumer class, but no, alas, the consumer class caught up to the Bronco and now threaten it. The complaints of gas mileage, noises, quirks and all other things that make an off-roader the toy we love and give it some character will likely push Ford into softening the Bronco even more.

We should not allow this to happen. Instead, let’s show the creature comfort class to thier respective vehicles where they’re more, well, comfortable. :)

As I stated earlier, I think I have my solution, but that said, being at Ol Florida this past weekend showed and proved to me just how capable the Bronco is.

There were a lot of vehicles there all different brands and models, different levels of mods. I saw many vehicles get stuck on obstacles that I breezed through with my Bronco. It made me feel really good about my Bronco as many people gave me compliments on my RIGs looks, but even more of its capabilities. Hell, I even had my top down in the 3rd position, which is a rarity for me.

As with any vehicle, the Bronco can have its issues, but man I am happy with my Bronco, and the roof, well theirs a mod for that.

Couple of months ago Bronco Nation ran a poll about the Bronco and one of the questions was about the removable doors and if you would be against making them not removable.

95% of my driving is done under 70MPH, so I don't run into noise issues. It get slightly noisy when I'm on the highway, but part of that is the roof racks too. Its a truck, so I don't have expectations of it being completely silent either.

Wow. Thanks for that high quality comment. Try not to hurt too many people with your sharp wit.
This would have caught me a warning and a 30 day ban. Mods just keep an eye out for my not nice commentary.

On the track of actually contributing to the thread. Buy one of those new landcruisers they are pretty slick.

I know that there will be plenty of hate on this post. Let’s get the obvious out of the way…some people love the removable top-but not me.

I would absolutely love to have an option for a solid and fixed roof on this bronco.

I have a 2022 Badlands squatch with hard top and lux package and I love everything about it….except the removable top.

It is literally the only thing about the vehicle that I do not completely adore. The water leaks and noise are ruining an otherwise perfect vehicle for me. It makes me consider switching to another vehicle, but I waited so long for this vehicle and nothing else really compares.

I’ll keep it and love it, but the solid hard roof would be a game changer for me.
Top off doors off is the next best thing to riding a motorcycle. Was kinda the idea when I bought it. To each their own though.

Exactly why we bought our Mustang convertible after giving up riding motorcycles. The Bronco will replace the totaled Mustang. The Jeep is filling in the void while waiting on the Bronco.

As someone who lives on the Alpine Loop in Colorado during the summer, and who spends much of the North American winter in Patagonia, I get it.

Those with tops off look miserable - they are dusted out every 10 minutes on weekends.

I suspect those who love top down are driving on pavement, and don’t have critters looking for easy entry to your vehicle at night.

OP here.

I knew that my post would bring out the trolls and tough guys and you didn’t disappoint!

Take a look at my original post, see all the statements that begin with “I”? That indicates it was my opinion that was being shared. Others may disagree (obviously) and some do not.

I was really just hoping for an aftermarket option for a more fixed roof. Not saying that Ford should engineer one for the masses.

The original Bronco had a 1 piece metal removable top. I can get on board for that option be it factory or aftermarket (if affordable). But not a permanent fixed roof.
