Pineapple pizza aficionados,

I had originally planned on getting a 4dr 2.7 10 speed auto with the sqatch package.

With today's developments, I'm seriously considering "downgrading" to the 2.3 with the manual, but I'm worried it'll be underpowered? Thoughts?

My 3.8 205 HP 4 door JK on 33’s with the 6 speed is what I would call barely adequate.

Given the horsepower and enormous gearing advantages provided by the Bronco, the 4 door will be just fine.

Pretty sure the 2.3 has still got more horsepower and more or almost as much torque as any previous bronco engine. Even the 5.8 V8 in the full size 90s broncos was like 210hp, the 2.3 is something like 270hp. So should be fine I’d say.

The 2.3 on a 4door man Squatch is seriously underpowered but only if you’re trying to put your rig into orbit around the planet Earth. If that is however not your intention then fear not, your steed is not going to feel anemic. ?

Always buy the best engine.
Generally agreed.

But in the case of the Bronco, that extra $3,500 for the 2.7L 10A Squatch on the Base model plummets your crawl ratio to 68 Vs 94 for the 2.3L Mansquatch.

Such a deal (???)

What is the OP doing more of; mudding and improved trails, or rock crawling?

I'm either looking at the 2.3 with the manual or the 2.7 auto. You can't go wrong with either one!!! Even the 2.3 with the auto is a descent combo.

Its been brought up before that the sasquatch will have a 4.7 rear end. That is a pretty short gear even for a 35" tire. When you throw the fact that you have a turbo in there it only gets better.
