I think (so I could be wrong) that FDRS looks at both the VIN and the part number installed to determine the "correct" firmware for the steering rack. I have not encountered ANY compatibility issues on any of the racks I programmed and I have not heard of anyone reporting any issues either using the donor VIN method.

And I have programmed at least 2 racks... ;)
Do you happen to know if anyone has tried the donor VIN method using the VIN from a 24 Non-SAS Badlands 4DR which now comes from the factory with the HOSS 3.0?

I am making the assumption that the firmware from a 24 Non-SAS Badlands 4DR would be the correct version for a 23 Non-SAS Badlands 4DR with a HOSS 3.0 rack installed. And probably all the other Non-SAS 4DR "excluded" models.

FYI: I sent another email to FP checking on the release date for the M-3200-WT kit for excluded models and the response was:

".....currently looks to have been pushed back till late Q3. That is when the engineer is planning on testing and evaluation for release."

@GNFITR any updates?

Doubtful. Ford has their head up their ass and limited marketability for their efforts IF programming is actually different than a 24 Badlands non-SAS.

I got back from TN and ready to go tear stuff up, lol.

@GNFITR any updates from Ford Perf? Ironically Ford Parts website lists as compatible. But the disclaimer print still says it’s not.

Maybe we should write Ford CEO Jim Farley and ask him to look into it. He's demonstrated an interest in Broncos.

And if someone decides to write him, keep your letter on point. Only ask about the Severe Duty Steering Kit. Don't get sidetracked onto other issues. Don't make comments about how Ford seems to be neglecting Broncos in any way. Be nice and say how much you enjoy your Bronco and you want to make it the best it can be.

Hard to believe this is still an ongoing issue. I'm a little over 2 years on my mpeugeot programmed rack. Have no idea if I have the correct steering ratio or not. Haven't run off the road yet.

It's a Limited Edition Programmed Rack.

Well I sent emails to Ford Performance and Jim Farley. The Farley email was intercepted, as expected. At least I got a confirmation?

Yeah at some point I’ll go with the hack if Ford Performance doesn’t step up in Q4. Q3 budget is allocated to tires & suspension.

(I’m actually sitting in the dealer waiting room now waiting on the suspension recall install. )

I was thinking of snail mail. It's harder to ignore.

Jim Farley, Ford Motor Company, 1 American Road, Dearborn, MI 48126.

Send it certified with "return receipt requested" and it's even less likely to get lost.

If you make it humorous or super interesting, you'll guarantee everyone in the office will pass it around.

Maybe a story that your 4 door Bronco is jealous of all the 2 door Broncos because they can get the severe duty steering kit and your Bronco can't. Maybe Ford's computer loves 2-door Broncos more than it loves 4-door Broncos.

Update: no idea if this means anything new. But it’s an update.

“I just received a note from the product engineer. The M-3200-WT will not work on your truck, however they are waiting for approval on a new part number for the non-Sasquatch trucks. Once it is released, they will have it on our website the same day. Should hopefully be soon, however they have not given us an ETA or Part number that can be released yet.”

Thanks for the update.

if you’re feeling froggy, send a response back asking why it’s taking so long? Especially since all 24+ models (with SAS & also Badlands non-SAS) from the factory comes with the upgraded racks & tie rods.

it’s nearly 2026 so they are 2 years behind, lol. Let alone the hacks with FDRS.

Glad to see they are providing an officially supported upgrade but feels a little retarded the way they are progressing.

Oops. Forgot to share this update from January 26. Q2 is fast approaching…

“Product management is currently aiming for a Q2 2026 release for the kit.

I know this has been a long time in the works. The team is working vigilantly to be able to have a kit available as soon as possible.”

I periodically respond to their update emails and ask “so… any updates?”. I almost feel as if I have a relationship…

Whats the FP email you reached out to? I’ll doubletap them monthly with you. 22 non-squatch BD and I want a front locker and gears this year, so figure I’ll do the rack at the same tome

Is it just

Yes, that’s the email I use. And I keep replying to their replies so they see the history.
