Hey everyone,

Some of you may have seen my build thread here, but I wanted to make a separate post of my dyno results so the results don’t get buried in the thread. Finally I had a chance to head to the dyno to get some results for my custom tuned 2.3L Bronco. Here is a list of the specs and modifications done prior to heading to the dyno.

Vehicle Specs
  • Year/Model: 2021 Ford Bronco Base w/67K miles
  • Color: Velocity Blue
  • Engine: 2.3L EcoBoost
  • Transmission: 7-Speed Manual (Getrag MT-88)
  • Gearing: 4.46 Gears
  • 2025 Sasquatch Wheels & 35” Goodyear Wrangler RTs
  • OEM Bronco Raptor Amber Headlights
  • Turn Offroad Hyperlyte Front Bumper & Skid Plate
  • DV8 Crash Bar Caps
  • Gloss Black Wildtrak Grille (UPR Matte Black letters),
  • 2025 Gauge Cluster
  • Hoss 3.0 Suspension

Performance Mods
  • Custom Tune by Ryan Martin @ Engineered Motorsport Solutions
  • HP Tuners w/ MPVI4
  • NGK 95605 Spark Plugs (Gapped to.026)
  • MBRP 3” Cat-Back (Aluminized Steel High Clearance)
  • GPE Ported Intake Manifold & Ported Throttle Body
  • CVFab Performance Intercooler
  • CVFab Charge Pipes
  • Injen Cold Air Intake
  • TurboSmart Kompact EM VR19 Dual Port (Plumb back)
  • UPR Catch Can

Ryan Martin from EMS and I have spent a lot of time with revisions and dialing in the Bronco. Can’t say enough good things about Ryan. He’s been super responsive and very accommodating, especially since getting the HP Tuners MPVI4 initially working was a bit of a task. I’ll do a separate write-up on the tuning process and go into more of the specifics about the tune later on.

I will say, the Bronco feels like a completely different beast, especially with the E30 map. I reverted back to the stock tune on the way to the dyno and I couldn't believe the difference. It felt like a complete dog by comparison. Guess I’ve been spoiled with these custom tunes :)

I had planned to make all my dyno pulls in 4th gear which is 1:1. Unfortunately the Bronco hit the speed limiter in 4th on the stock tune so we did all of the pulls in 3rd gear on the Dynojet.

Ford Bronco 2021 Bronco 2.3L Ecoboost Custom Tuning Dyno Results! IMG_2354

As you can see by the results, with the bolt-ons that I have installed the Bronco is running pretty good right out of the gate. Higher than some of the dyno results I’ve seen with the stock tune on a DynoJet. I will say it’s hard to find an apples to apples comparison as some folks use different dynos, gears and show STD vs. SAE.

After flashing to the 93 map, you can see the HP gains are modest (Close to 30 RWHP gained) but torque gains are massive. Nearly + 80 RWTQ! Definitely noticeable when rowing through the gears.

E30 is where the real fun begins, here we’re seeing 329 RWHP and 418 RWTQ - that’s a + 68 RWHP gain and +115 RWTQ All at the same curve, so a huge difference in daily driving & off-road. Making Bronco Raptor power with a 2 DR and a manual transmission = Fun :) Huge win for the 2.3L Bronco platform.

Torque wise, on E30 we’re pretty much at the safety levels we want to be with the stock long block. Around 420 RWTQ is a nice stopping point to maintain reliability. We still have plenty of room on the HP side, as you’ll typically want to stay around the 380-400 RWHP mark.

I have more plans with this Bronco, as I have TurboBay Performance making me a custom turbo using the stock housing and adding a T51R mod. I won’t be pushing this little motor to the moon, but it will be fun to make a little bit more power and a lot of cool turbo noises. If you want to stay up to date with the build, then check out my build thread and YouTube channel.

Great numbers!

Any plans of beef up the transmission? seem you are borderline of what the 10R60 is rated to handle.

Another thing, you did the pull in 2wd or 4wd, sport or normal GOAT mode?

Thanks

I have the 7-speed manual and the clutch does need to be upgraded to cope with this much torque. The 10R60 is good up to 520-ish RWTQ, so not a problem for folks with the auto.

Pulls were done in 2WD in normal mode with advance trak off.

This wins the coolest post I have seen today. Absolutely love it! Sounds amazing too! E30 was the sweet spot on my ST as well. Have fun with her!

Interested to see this, thought the stock compressor inlet was too small for a T51R mod to work.

Wow, you have really done a great job in optimizing performance! I would be happy with half of what you have achieved. I have a 2026 2.3 manual 4-dr and live in California, so my options are limited while still meeting CARB. So far, my 1st perf. mod is I ordered a Cobb intercooler (CARB compliant) and a Steeda exhaust (not really a perf mod). Maybe at some point you can provide your assessment on the various mods, their perf. impact, ... Thanks for the great writeup & vid.

That sounds crazy, great video job.
How long is the expected engine life span with this much extra power on the 2.3?

This all looks great but I'm interested to know what the motor limits are. Everything looks bolt on so what do you think the internals can handle before you have issues?

Truly unknown, but these numbers are still within the safe zone for the 2.3L.

Safe Daily: 330–350 whp / 420 wtq. This is the sweet spot with an intercooler, bolt-ons, and a solid 93 or E30 tune.

Pushing It: 400 whp / 425+wtq. You’re entering "borrowed time" here. The stock fueling and rods start to become a gamble past 400.

Pushing over 450 wtq at low RPMs puts a tons of stress on the connecting rods. Properly tuned high-power builds often "ramp" the boost in later (after 3,500 RPM) to save the bottom end. This being said, unlikely you’ll see this much torque with the stock turbo.
