Think about it: this is a manufacturing defect like no other. The new MIC is using the same design; only thicker.

Think that will fix the problem? A cardboard honeycomb with a plastic skin is proving to be bad engineering.
This has been a huge concern of mine also. 2 or 3 year leases are starting to look attractive now.... I hate leases.
They apparently don't build them like they used to ... those hard tops they made 30 years ago are still serviceable... they must have had the proper seam sealer on the corners, that's all.
LOL

Ford practicing the “how to say it’s a design problem without actually saying it’s a design problem”

Mic can be damaged by rain. Rain ffs.
You caught that too, eh? Admittedly, I kinda feel like shit knowing that all of us have probably been slightly unfairly banging on Webasto, only to find out now via Ford's very well-veiled statement that it was a design problem of their own making the entire time.

why don't you believe the man when he says daylight coming through? lol he should know best he looking right at it
duly noted. From now on I will believe everything I read on the internet without question. 🙄

I’m asking questions because I’m curious and want to wrap my head around this if true. Honeycomb appearance has been reported, unfinished edges, but this is the first report I’ve seen on a friggin hole in the top.

That's exactly what it looks like on my screen also, debris.
Not saying it is, it just appears that way in the pic.
I suppose we should berate OP for taking sub-par photos now.
What's he use ... a potato cam? LOL
Long LIVE the STIG!!!
man you guys take the cake on here cant understand the lengths some people go to not believe something lol I was able to use deductive reasoning to look at the photo while taking into account the op added info that sunlight was coming through and concluded that the white circular dot only one on the photo was the light coming through. Had i not been told what to look for yeah might not know what the white spot was anyway i highly recommend deductive reasoning and context to help you on the next one lmao

The good news is you're getting a new one so you can slap any temp fix on there you want to keep water out. A little gray RTV would probably do the job and not stand out too bad.
Flex tape or Flex seal!!

That's for Ford to figure out. I am quite sure they know all of it's deficiencies.
Not our problem yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that hole isn't at a seam, correct? So there's an actual pencil diameter size hole on the outside of the top?
