Well guys haven’t posted in awhile but to be honest work sucks. I’ve been catching up on the last 30 pages. Hey alvin I noticed something interesting.
I was going to have my beauty rings powder coated, but the best price I could find locally was 75 per eing(because, well, NJ). So I decided to purchase black factory ones from ford and sell my originals online. I, too, just removed mine. Why is my perimeter black under the beauty rings? Am I missing something?

yup.. and don't use an impact to break the Lock Tight either, do it by hand with a good T45.
I went around and broke the bolts on all rings, then went back with the impact and same bit to remove the ring. Took about 15 minutes in total.

What color were you expecting? Seems like black would make sense on a black wheel, no?

Make sure to put anti-sieze on the bolts when you re-assemble, that will make taking them apart in the future much easier.

Roger,
What it looks like to me is all of the wheels started off unfinished aluminum as expected.
Some of them where power coated / painted Gloss Black at that point.
However some of them had the ring attached then both were painted at the same time, meaning that the paint never made it to the actual wheel.
One of mine, the spare, looked like the outside edge was painted black, but the raised section was not.

Weird, wouldn't painting them with the ring on cover the fasteners too?

The fasteners, bolts are all painted glass black the same as the ring and the wheels in my case. They came from the factory all gloss black.

Holy cow this is big. I forgot how large they are lol got it home and gave it a bath last night . I have some weird questions about the seal on the top but I’ll take some pics later. There is a part behind the rear door where it meets the back window where there is a little wire that goes through a rubber tube. Just wondering if I should see that or not

Could there possibly be an @Cat Bronco sighting this weekend?

I must warn you the tracking withdrawal is real. Now i must order random things just so I have something to stalk.

Ford Motor Company did my wheels.
A little shop up in Michigan :)
This is how they came from the factory.
