Ford Chat was able to give me my RAIL CAR number (Shipped Rail - Railcar # BNSF301712) - the Pizza tracker just says SHIPPED - the forum guy's tracker says : " ERROR Shipping record not found. "

Now, down the rabbit hole of train tracking via phone.

Can you send me the Chat Link so that I could try as well. I tried to call and got someome on phone but he could not give me the Rail Car info.

The only info he gave me is mine will be delivered at the Dealer on Apr 8.

ASN = advanced ship notice. It’s a communication sent from a plant to carrier with estimated bill of loading, number of units, estimated ready date for carrier, etc. it’s nothing more than a pre-authorization, much like when you pay for gas and they charge your card $100-200 pre-authorization, because they aren’t sure how much you are gonna pump, but they know you are for sure gonna pump gas. Same thing here, but for shipping cars. Sometimes they can sit in ASN status for a bit while they wait to get more before shipping them all at once to a particular region. Lowers costs when they can load out an entire carrier, or rail stack and send them all in one direction. Instead of diverting or hitting intermodal change.

TL;DR: ASN status is basically a holding status at the plant until it updates to shipped.
