I've driven all 3 setups and went with the manual 2.3. It's perfect, no disappointments at all

I test drove a Base mannequin with the 2.3 Sasquatch and found it surprisingly quick, a lot like the 2.0 Ecoboost in my wife’s Escape. However I wanted a Wildtrak so I ended up with the 2.7. IMO, you cant go wrong either way.

Has anyone who has gotten the 2.3 been dissappointed? I'd be super interested in hearing from those that have driven both.

I drive a 3.6 eTorque Wrangler and I've heard it's a dog compared to both. It has a 3.45 gear ratio with 33s so that may have something to do with it.

I was Bronco 2.7 all the way, but I'd love a manual. Just hoping to hear real world reviews of 2.3 auto and manual.

Edit: Found some reviews on the forum from prior, but I'd love to hear from some folks that haven't posted prior.
it also depends on what you variant you get- say you get a black diamond, it s better to get a 2.7 because you get better fuel economy than 2.3 L. Look at fuel economy numbers by engine transmission combination, that would help in making a good decision. Similarly Badlands with 2.7 will get better economy in either city or highway better than 2.3. you could look up the fuel economy charts
I will certainly go with 2.7L, if i am getting a non-sas black diamond. get better fuel economy and better torque/power

The 10 speed auto works great with the 2.3 because the engine is always in its power band. 2.3 is more than adequate. We drove ours up and over the mountains going to Moab and it was never short on power and pulls hard.
The 10-speed AT is exactly the only thing wrong with our 2019 Ranger Lariat.

Fixing that horrific transmission by adding a third pedal makes Bronco fantastic. The 2.3 engine is a Bonnie and a Joy to own. The 10-speed makes me hate driving the Ranger so I can't wait for the Bronco to arrive and fix that problem.

To the OP: The 2.3 sucks. Every 6th generation Ranger ever sold has been thrown into the scrap heap because the motor is such garbage that it can only handle a max payload of 13,801 lbs. That's barely a single 2022 Hummer EV.

It's so bad that Ford has kept the 2.3 for the 7th Generation Ranger, despite the American bald-eagle ka-kaws of freedom and larger displacement in their trucks.

Ranger
Curb weight4,441
Towing capacity7,500
Max cargo1,860
Max payload13,801
GVRW6,050

For reference, in Bronco the 2.3 is tasked with only handling 71% of the max weight it handles in Ranger. Sooooooo I think it will explode if you have to haul a roll of stamps (the 100-pack roll, obviously)

Bronco (Badlands)
Curb weight4,997
Towing capacity3,500
Max cargo1,370
Max payload9,867
GVRW6,160

You never said what’s wrong with the 10 speed, and you are hard to understand. OP is asking those that actually own Broncos.

I got the 2.3 and the only issue I had was the lack of responsiveness. I felt like it took a bit to get going but definitely enough power in general. I bought a pedal commander and it has helped out a lot. So overall, very happy with the 2.3 especially with the P.C. addition.

Originally ordered the 2.7 simply for the testosterone flow. Drove a 2.7 and 2.3. Both four doors. I ordered a two door. Not once during either test drive did I feel like I was in an under powered vehicle. Fact is, I am a life long V8 owner. The only thing about the Bronco that concerns me are the motor options. That said, my 2.3 auto 2D BL is an exceptional machine and so far, the motor performance has never been an issue. Plus I saved $1800. ( I would have paid the cost for a V8 if it was an option).

No complaints about the 2.3 MT. I agree about the short first gear on the street but it makes sense off-road.

I think the reason thy didn't use the MT with the 2.7 is you really can't do much with the power off the line.

Really the only reason I would want more power is to stop Teslas from messing with me on the freeway but that's a different story.

Have the 2.3L MT in my Badlands non Squatch since Nov 21 and have had zero issues. Love it. You will not be disappointed IMO.

No, the OP did not specifically state only Bronco owners could respond to his question.

As to the claim I never said what was wrong with the 10AT (seach function!).... Here are links to my prior posts about how terrible this transmission is in practice because i've had this combo since 2019 and have been very consistent with why it's a beancounter transmission and not your friend.

Chronologically posted. I felt 3 was good enough.

I love my 2.3/7MT but I'm under no delusions that it's fast. It's adequate. I also drive like someone twice my age so I'm rarely in boost either unless on the interstate.

To be clear, I wanted all responses to be from Bronco owners, hence the posting being in Bronco6g.

Also I'm looking for the best engine. I don't give a rats butt whether it's 2.3 or 2.7. Not sure why you hopped on the displacement train.

Thanks everyone else for the great feedback! Seems like it isn't unanimous so I'll just keep waiting until I can drive multiple variants.
