He said he was driving down the road and it started making a strange rumbling noise, then it started to smoke, which was followed by a bunch of warnings going off and the engine failing. He would've stopped sooner but the stretch of road (we used to live on it) doesn't have anywhere to pull off until he got to where he could roll into a driveway to wait for the tow. When they loaded it onto the truck, oil dumped out of the skid plate, the tow driver said it looked like oil mixed with coolant. I didn't get to see it so I don't know for sure.Yikes sorry to hear! Makes me think maybe a thrown rod to blow oil out of the bottom I assume due to ruptured oil pan...
I'm not familiar with dropped valves, I thought they could appear similar to a thrown rod, is that not the case?
