Thx Jim, these events seem less frequent now and no Julian dates past early Oct, but this doesn't really solve the problem for thousands of 2.7 owners w ' Hot Zone ' engines. Only NHTSA can enforce a ' Replacement Campaign ' or ' Recall '. They now have 20 Reports filed - and about 18 of them are from B6g list - i.e. about half the list, which is a little disappointing. Twice we've sent DM's asking people to file w NHTSA. The 2nd DM was sent March 10 - see below. Still about half the people in the list have not filed a report.Joseph . .
No really cares as much as the person who has a catastrophic engine failure when they expected their vehicle to last a while. Hopefully not in traffic, someplace remote or in a position that could cause to themselves or orthers. In the grand scheme of things, there has been what, roughly 58K Broncos built, and figure that about maybe half of them are V6s, so you have a failure rate of roughly 1% given the numbers here?
Yeah its shitty when it happens, but not really outside the "norm" for a failure rate
Am trying to find this code on my bronco. Any pointersLucchese has a way of making things feel betterhe just pointed out via PM:
“you got the solid new -AB engine and with AMB 2Dr - it's a total Unicorn - could be the only one, or extremely rare, since AMB was discontinued”
Anyhow, here’s the new engine for those that may be interested. Evidently built in Feb. 2022.

The AA designation is above the larger set of numbers. If that’s what you’re looking for. The Julian date is what is circled in red, 21-195 for the day it was built.Am trying to find this code on my bronco. Any pointers
It’s all in the first post. @Lucchese has done an amazing job of assembling this info into that first post.Am trying to find this code on my bronco. Any pointers
Get with @Ford Motor Company on here. They can get you in touch with the appropriate people. That's how I did it.Just normal customer service or is there a special way to contact them?
I've done that trip a few times in my Bronco. 95 sucks and VA is always the worst stretch.Figured I’d drop some good news (for me, at least) in this thread: I just tested out the new engine on a NY to NC to NY trip. 1,500+ miles on the new engine with no issue.
Interestingly, the engine always changes gears below 2500rpm. Is that normal for a 2.7L? I only had it a week before it blew and didn’t remember it always shifting that early in the RPM range.
LOL, that's my letter they included.
