So after a few minor problems with my bronco The engine blew around new years took it to the dealership and they tried to charge my for an oil consumption test had it towed from that dealer to another the first week of January after over 3 months they finally got my bronco finished not before charging me 900$ to drain the fuel tank at the recommendation of Ford rep but I just want my vehicle so I agree only to find out the new engine that ford sent was bad and now we have to start the whole process over again so I’m now without my primary form
Of transportation and they won’t even give me a rental. Short story ford= junk and poor service. this is my last ford purchase

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Whatever it was. Draining the fuel tank doesn't cost $900, so I'm not sure what you actually had to deal with but it sounds painful.

I would be up Ford Corporate's ass all day long with both feet. Screw the dealers - go straight to the source.

Oh yes I know but it’s been in the shop so long I’d been happy to shut my mouth pay up and have my car back

Which dealer? I'm about an hour away so want to make sure I don't ever go there for service.

Why would they do an oil test on a blown engine? Then drain the tank? A lot of this makes no sense.

Time to get a lemon law lawyer from your state. Being out of service that long and failed repair might just qualify.

The $900 charge seems completely bogus. If the engine failure caused debris to go back to the tank that should be part of the repair. I had Honda pull similar BS years ago with a Honda Pilot. Would get random CELs for misfire. Honda had a TSB out for the problem that required the computer to be updated but part of that process for some reason was a valve adjustment for $450. The valve adjustment was required at 100k miles and the Pilot only had 12K miles. Honda said the required valve adjustment was normal service and not covered. Argued with them for a couple of months and then just gave up and cleared the fault whenever it came up. When I got to 100k miles I had the valves adjusted and they did the reprogramming. There's no limit to the greed and stupidity in the auto industry.

Oh yes I know but it’s been in the shop so long I’d been happy to shut my mouth pay up and have my car back
I had a 2021 Ford Ranger FX4 lariate that went from new purchase to lemon to Ford buy back In 9 months. The lemon process for me was a very easy transaction that didn’t cost me one penny and I never talked to a lawyer. I can only share what worked with Ford and maybe it helps.…

The Ford app owners manual under warranty info and there is a page with a direct link to the BBB. In less than 10 min I created a profile and started a lemon case against Ford and uploaded a couple documents the BBB asked for. The BBB did all communication for me with Ford. In three weeks I had a email that said Ford will buy back my truck that also covered the purchase price and taxes. There was a small “usage fee” calculation based on miles I put on it. Was something like 0.30 cents per mile.

Here is the info of the office and person I dealt with. I don’t know if this is for all vehicle manufactures or something set up between Ford and the BBB. I purchased the truck in Texas and I live in Nevada and there was no issues, it didn’t matter. I did contact a lemon law attorney and I was told they can not do anything until after the truck was repaired because they need supporting paperwork to know the problem and repairs. My truck was at the dealer for 64 days for rear axle issue. The BBB only cared that 30 days at the dealer was sufficient to qualify for a case.

I have an idea of what your going thru and it sucks. I have deleted some of my notes about this ordeal because it’s over so I’m going off memory on some things. I was given a rental car paid for by the Ford dealer in Nevada that had my truck for the 64 days, it didn’t matter that I didn’t buy the truck from them. Ask to speak to the regional warranty administrator, he will most likely not be at your dealer as he handles many dealers, ask him for a loaner/rental. If I would of had a purchase loan from Ford credit they would have paid my monthly loan payments. But since I was provided a free rental for the two months it was in repair I had my own payments to keep up with.

Ask the regional administrator for a rental or payment for your loan while they have it. The key is that you have to ask about it. When I returned my truck and picked up the check there were stacks of files of Ford buy backs at my local dealer. It is a very common practice.

This is very helpful. Fords is going to send me an offer to buy my back, but if they dont offer everything my states lemon law covers im going that route.

I had zero documents myself because my truck was still at Ford when I initiated the BBB claim (around repair day # 65). The important part is to start the claim. You will then be asked by BBB how do you want it resolved ie buy back, replacement vehicle, longer warranty, etc.

The lemon law lawyers said they wanted repair documents to support the claim and that’s why they could not help until the truck was back on the road.
