2 door towing performance - my experience with Mammoth Overland Trailer

Just got back from a quick camping trip on the Mojave Trail. Figured some 2-door owners might be interested in how the Bronco does towing. (2.7L auto/Sasquatch)

I was super happy! My trailer is a Mammoth Overland Trailer- weighs 2500lbs, we were probably closer to 3000 with the weight we had in it. I averaged 16.7mpg for the trip (180miles) and 150 of that was +70mph on the hwy. Tracks well, plenty of power for passing, and the short wheelbase was great for maneuvering the trailer.

By comparison, my Gen3 Tacoma got about 12mpg when towing and that was with a re-gear.

Pics are fantastic - thanks! Question about your trailer - when the kitchen is deployed it seems it extends far beyond the overhanging door so I was wondering if it's raining, is it therefore not possible to use the stovetop because the water would be falling directly on it?

I'm planning on pulling our mini trailer behind mine when I get it, it's currently set to match the wheels on the EB, I'll see if I want to swap to some Squatch wheels, I like the option of using the spare to go onto the trailer or the rig--this thing weighs in around 1k# fully loaded, has a 20g water tank on a pump, the rooftop tent, solar, brakes etc. It's a 'project trailer' and I haven't spent much time on it recently with other things going on but it's easy to wheel down trails that a more traditional trailer wouldn't make it down

Yes, the fridge is completely covered but about half of the sink and the stove is exposed. The trailer does come with an awning that you could move to the back of the trailer if you were concerned about rain. I also was considering an extra awning for the back of the trailer for the summer when there’s no shade.

My kid is out there sleeping in it right now (back yard camping!) but I’ll snap an interior shot for you today.
they are $22,500 with a ton of standard options that other companies charge extra for. I do think today is the last day to lock in that price ($1k deposit) Another guy in this thread said they are already 10months out for build time, but it’s worth contacting them and finding out the deal.

Here you go! Wide enough for a King Size mattress. That bench folds up, but we used it for storage/laptop/etc.

thanks for the warming- but you do realize NASA has merchandising agreements with many companies to use this logo in apparel, accessories, and in this case stickers. Which I have purchased from an authorized vendor.

Yes, understood. But using it on a trailer may be in violation of the statute. In my career, I've managed several NASA contracts as a contracts manager, which is the only reason I know of the statutes and why I gave caution. Like I said, I doubt you will have an issue, but...

I’ve been looking at the Mammoth trailer. Is the unpainted aluminum now a standard option? Anything else other than white too? I know you can do custom and color matched wraps for an up charge.

I think white is the standard. They offered me the bare aluminum as they had it available faster. I think it was the first one they did in bare aluminum. I prefer the look as we’ve had Airstreams in the family. They did a simple brushed effect to it. I plan on ceramic coating it soon.

Yes! Thank you I’ve been waiting for a review for the 2d on towing. This is exactly what I want but was worried the two door would have a hard time towing. Looks like it does great. Sweet set up man. I’m super jealous

Do you know what the tongue weight was? How much squat do you get?

definitely got enough squat to notice. Not sure the tongue weight- but they did design it with some length to help with the tongue weight.
