Very nice. I have been planning out doing something similar.

I just grabbed the ones at Home Depot. I think Lowe’s carries the same brand. Seem to work well.Do you mind sharing what hinges you used? Thanks
Yes. I think they call it a continuous hinge but I believe the same thing. Everbilt brand I think. Its key to go all the way across the platform pieces. Is it a piano hinge? I couldn’t tell from the photo. Thanks
great workI’ve been taking notes of all the others making a level platform in the 2DR without removing seats.
Plywood, 1x6, hinges, hardware, carpet and time. Folds up to put seats up and relatively easy to remove. Good platform for the dogs and decent storage.
Thought I’d share.
This was my starting point. Had to make some adjustments along the way. Had to taper the lid to clear interior trim when opened. Few others as well.
Very cool and really well done! Thanks for sharing, I may use this and "extend" for my 4D. Really want to be able to use The Bronco for backroad camping. Thanks for the inspiration.I’ve been taking notes of all the others making a level platform in the 2DR without removing seats.

You did a great job on construction and engineering. Thanks for sharing and approving of others to copy, no better compliment than when one follows your example. This is one of the best out there. I plan on following the plans, it will save me a lot of money, time and effort. Be SafeI’ve been taking notes of all the others making a level platform in the 2DR without removing seats.

I am not sure if there is a ‘strength’ difference to mitre over Butt joint. Someone smarter than me would have to weigh in. I liked the looks of it. I did strengthen it with a small piece of wood glued in the corner. I did use 1x vice a 2x for the frame. I think it’ll be great and easier to move in and out.Looks great! I would copy your design, but I'm removing my rear seats. Since I'm not a carpenter, I have a question - is there a benefit to cutting 45s vs. just butting up the 2xs? It's not really going to visible...
I sure do, They are on my seat backs under the solid platform. You know you can get back seat covers for $30? Velcros to it.
You can probably put short legs but they would just be around 4.5". I really think just the loose piece of board (carpeted) that sits between the seats works great. It can actually stay there with the seats up and work fine. I'll see if I can get a picture of it. It's really just a scrap piece of the "box" since it needs to be the same depth. I wouldn't want to attach any legs since they would get in the way of the z-fold.Great setup Trigger. I am designing a similar setup. I want to add support legs adjacent to the seats near the front. Do you think there is room? I know you mentioned you put some on the middle.
Also wondering if you noticed any effects of the weight on the folded seats (squishing the seats over time) or if they seem pretty sturdy. Thank you in advance!
