As I read the data sheet on my (now pending hardtop) bronco, my mind started wandering. Are the built-in security measures good enough, or are there other small measures to take to discourage theft.
Beyond it being a stick shift :giggle: that is...

Insurance.
If someone wants it bad enough, they'll get it regardless of what you do.

Sad, but true. I had a convertible Mustang with an alarm, was stolen twice! Second time it was stripped, insurance totaled it.
Yours too? I had to drive down to a Compton wrecking yard to verify it was mine, for insurance. Long time ago, now.

Yup, had to go to the Dallas auto pound to verify. First time they only took the wheels, a pair of pants I picked up at the dry cleaners, and my CD's! They even left a couple of bucks in change and bills in the ash tray! Second time (2 months later), there was nothing left. completely gutted the interior, battery, master cylinder and wheels again!
This was in March 94, on a 93 5.0 vert. I got a good deal on since the new body style came out.

I'm still pissed about it, I liked that car!!!

Air tags and my dealer did some magic. It will start and all looks great but you can’t put it in gear if you don’t know the magic.

Just the usual things that Californians have to do.

Those steering wheel "Clubs" are easily defeated: they saw a breach in the steering wheel and remove it.
One matter of theft risk is the wheels and tires. I bought advancedwheellock.com, and bought 5 to include the spare, plus two keys (1 with truck, 1 at home).

Instead of thinking of technology, think in terms of thieves' assessment: They want to steal something fast, easy, and not in sight. So what you want to do is increase:
1: complexity of freeing or entering the target. Anything which complicates the theft induces the thief to abandon a target and move on. So the OEM built-in is good. Add a hidden ignition kill switch, better. A complete electronic disabling system with motion detector, better still. So you're pitting your time and money against the thief's skills. For example, the AdvacedWheelLocks, above. (kind of pricey).
Also, that's why Manual Transmissions often frustrate urban carjackers: A complexity they haven't mastered.
2) time. The more you slow down a thief, the better. He doesn't want anybody to see what he's doing, which brings up
3) visibility. CCTV, lights, and maybe motion detector to activate.

Consider your garage door opener as a vulnerable point. You want something with a rare frequency, or maybe disengage it and go manual?

Nothing is perfect: you're improving your odds against the crook's. Even with all these, somebody could come with a ramp truck, haul it) up (those extraction rings are sure helpful!) and drop it in a container for shipment to Latin America or the Middle East.

Now that I think about it, I might buy an Apple tag...

I'm already sold on advanced wheel locks, it's rare that reviews are so positive from different sources.

Wheel locks and just pray it doesn’t get broken into. Like the rest are saying if someone wants to break in, they would. it’s happening everywhere unfortunately doesn’t matter which state, town, or city you’re in

Hasn’t failed me yet. It’s expensive but worth it to protect your investment
