Has anyone broken an axle or diff running 35s on the m190 front end? I have mine out on trails just about every weekend and could reallly benefit from the extra ground clearance. Currently have 285/75/16 with 2 inch zone lift. Just worried about long term durability. Would appreciate your thoughts! Thanks.

My fdu let go on 37s doing some light/medium wheeling a few weekends ago. I’m going to be swapping to the m210 but seeing those with cracked cases has me a little nervous. I hope to dive in more this week to see what actually let go but I suspect it’s the intermediate shaft in the fdu

might be a bit much to run 35's on m190 if you're offroading every weekend. how rough are the trails you take? any rock crawling in there or torquing?

How did it let go? Lots of throttle and boom? I try to be as careful as I can with wheel spin for too long on the front end before I back up and try a different line.

Yeah some moderate trails. Here's a vid I took last weekend. I usually go here or some local powerline trails once every two weeks. Def have wheel spin involved on the power line trails since its more rocky.

I've been pretty hard on mine with 35's and so far so good.

If you are judicious with the throttle it should last quite a while. Just like the Dana 30 on Jeeps, it will wear and wear quicker with larger tires, but how you treat is will matter too. It’s pretty clear Ford doesn’t want to deal with the potential warranty issues and doesn’t spec anything over 32”s on the 190 axle. I specifically went with my Badlands for the 210.

Plus the 210 doing away with the aluminum housing in favor of the steel one. Because bigger and stronger is always better.

Clearly the accountants have been involved however, as it seems the half-shaft tubes are aluminum regardless of yer girth being the great-for-the-local-dive-bar 190, or the size you tell the ladies about in Vegas 210. Still as yet unknown if Raptor gets the proper steel tubes or if it's like Blanch from the Golden Girls and her rather voluptuous curtains don't match her drapes. My kingdom for fenders that don't catfish their owners!

I like a harder shaft to jack off on, or jack off from, depending on how full your glass is. Regardless, aluminum tubes aren't NFG for assuming it's a jack or a jack stand location.

There's been some chirps from the birdies on the shoulders and in the bushes that Bronco Buster is busting their combined nuts all over a billet tube, and if that thing ends up being as big and strong as expected, then we're going to have to call for another celebratory shot of tequila (plus one for the delivery guy!).

I killed a steering rack, yet my m190 is fine. Only broken cv have been way to lifted and install issues.

I'm rolling around on 35s and 3.5" of lift.
I saw where you did that. That's another worry of mine. Just weary of cv problems since I've had 2 leaks and one replaced already lol

That's the way I see it. I just don't really trust it with 35s. At least the way I am with it. It's a gamble either way I guess.

@Baseaf I wouldn't worry to much at this point your still low mileage. I feel people daily driving in 4wd in the snow is harder and more damaging on the m190. If there was an issue with strength we would have a bunch of people complaining already.

3.5” and 37s here, stock black diamond steelies and 37x12.5 Patagonia Milestar MTs. Both of my CVs were fine after further inspection, at first that’s what I thought broke.

When it let go I was crossing a rutted washout, the front was on skid plate and the passenger front tire was pretty much max droop. I didn’t really feel comfortable with the camber and I had another foot to drop before the front left would come down and even me out so I backed up. The wheels didn’t spin but I do believe it pulled/put a lot of stress on the front passenger side of the drivetrain, I lost 4wd and have a nasty bind/grinding sound any time the front axle disconnect locks up. I’m hoping to have the m190 pulled out this week to see what let go inside, but I’m pretty certain it was the intermediate shaft. Roughly 5k miles on 37s, though I probably wheel more often than the average person.

I think I’ve seen more m210 failures of the actual case then I have the m190. I know it’s supposed to be steel vs aluminum andthe m210 I’m sure is wheeled harder, but it caught my attention.

and there was a guy on YouTube as well as a guy on Facebook both that let go in a mud hole. I think it was broncbuster that has broken the mounting ear on the differential case.

Ouch, curious to see what let go. That's crazy you haven't had axle issues with the 37s haha.
