Seeing if anyone has replaced their mod bumper "bronco" bolts with something that doesnt strip so easily. If so, what did you use?

Make sure you use a torx-plus wrench and the Bronco bolts shouldn't be a problem. Torx will mess them up...

Thanks have all the correct tools, but noticed how easily even the standard torx bolts on the beauty rings on the wheels strip, has me concerned about the bumper bolts. im confident in my technique, but even had one of those beauty ring bolts strip on me.

Are you sure? The ring bolts on my sasquatch wheels are not torx. They are TP40 torx-plus.

Ford says the ring bolts are T45 in their documentation, but some people think TP40 works better. The real problem is that the threadlocker makes them difficult to remove and even dealerships end up stripping them out. Be sure to use anti-seize when re-installing.

I haven't seen any issues with the Bronco bolts.

Are you stripping heads or threads?

My modular bumper bolts and SAS beauty ring bolts are TP-40.

On the beauty rings, T-40 is a loose fit and a T-45 fits “tighter”. This is assuming the Chinese numbered them correctly….

The only fault I find with some of the bumper bolts is how shallow the holes are. It's easy to allow the socket to round it out if you don't use a two hand hold to keep the socket in 90 degree alignment.

They’re cheese grade bolts. Replace with M10/M12 aftermarket and you’ll stop stripping them out.

“Black M12 dome Torx” on Google will get you many options.

I use these to secure stuff to my mod bumper.

They’re the security version of Torx but only slightly inconvenient for thieves.

Also, all of the Bronco bolts are screwed into Nutserts on the mod bumper and not “real” threads, so they can only handle so much torque.

The beauty rings are T45, but TP40 does fit better IMHO. The bumper screws are for sure TP40.

A side note: Heat up the screws on the wheel rings to avoid messing up the locked threads. Heat will always loosen thread locker blue or red, stay away from anything stronger or high heat like RockSet. I would not use anti-seize on these, just blue thread locker paste.

I've been running my bumper bolts in and out with a Milwaukee impact and have had zero problems.

I was thinking of changing the black beauty ring bolts out for stainless, anyone know what size they are?
