Debating between the two and understand the 2.3L has been around for a long time in Mustangs, Rangers and Explorers. Thanks.

Thanks. Have there been any issues with the 2.3L?The valve thing was small potatoes. Put "cam phaser" in the search box and have fun. I don't touch Fords with phasers, been burned every time. It's an annoyance with a warranty, and mega expense without.
A few things but no common themes. They're likely to carbon up around 100k and need a cleaning, but nobody is there yet.Thanks. Have there been any issues with the 2.3L?
Just stay away from the Chinese transmission.Thanks. Have there been any issues with the 2.3L?
The 2.3 has phasers too.The valve thing was small potatoes. Put "cam phaser" in the search box and have fun. I don't touch Fords with phasers, been burned every time. It's an annoyance with a warranty, and mega expense without.
I prefer the 2.7L cause why not. It's a stout engine with a fascinating design. The 2.3L is also a great engine with roots dating back to the late 90s.Debating between the two and understand the 2.3L has been around for a long time in Mustangs, Rangers and Explorers. Thanks.
FWIW my engine date is 8/4, with 11k miles and still kickin'.Here's the post on the engine failures. Of the data collected on B6G, 41 of the 46 reported that listed their engine build dates had engines built between June 8, 2021 and August 12, 2021.

A Mazda design that doesn't have problems. The 2.3 has phasers too.
We should eventually get the new 2.3 with port and direct injection from the new Mustang. That'll clear up the carbon issue but who knows if it'll be as reliable out the gate.A few things but no common themes. They're likely to carbon up around 100k and need a cleaning, but nobody is there yet.
Where have you seen these cracked heads, and can you please quantify “a lot”? I’m not disputing your claim. Just looking for a little more information. Thanks.Seen a lot of cracked heads on the 2.7s. I went with a 2.3
Is it carbon or is it the innards of black plastic fuel tank? At least that was the issue 20 years ago with Dodge/Ram hemi engines. An annual flush of the lines was necessaryWe should eventually get the new 2.3 with port and direct injection from the new Mustang. That'll clear up the carbon issue but who knows if it'll be as reliable out the gate.
