So I have a problem a lot of people might like. Auto start stop hasn’t been working the last few days for me. It says due to vehicle charging. I had my battery and alternator tested and was told they were both good so what could be causing this?

If it says due to vehicle charging then that’s why. Really.
I don’t know who tested your battery etc. but perhaps they didn’t realize it is an AGM battery that functions at higher voltage than lead acid?

Other conditions that factor in include: operating temperature, ambient temperature, HVAC mode, trailer towing, and more.

I took it to AutoZone because that is the closest and free. I know it must be charging but how do I know it’s not overcharging or something else wrong with it other than just the battery starting to go bad but still good enough to test ok?

Mine did the same thing for a few weeks before my battery died. It had 400 miles of warranty remaining so I took it to the local dealer for a new battery. Sadly my auto start/stop came back to life with a new battery

Even though the battery tested OK it’s likely on the way out.

the start/stop stopped on my F150 at one point, it was that way for a few months before really cared. I found a replacement battery and after I swapped it out the auto start/stop went back to normal.

good luck.

That was a symptom for me about 2-3 weeks before my battery went bad. You getting “entering battery saver mode” type alerts?

If/when you do, get it replaced.

Yep I’ve had batteries tested as fine that a few days later went belly up.

Your battery is likely low or going bad. Just because it tested as fine doesn't mean it's good enough for the start stop system. The demand requirements for it or other systems may be higher than the requirements for the software that was programmed into the equipment that tested the battery. If you haven't replaced it in 2-3+ years; just go ahead and do it and not worry about it for several more years. I've always had good luck with the OEM Motorcraft or Odossey batteries.

It can also be due to how much you drive and how long you park it. I work thee days a week and my Bronco then typically sets for four days. The battery is still getting used when parked with all the monitoring systems in the Bronco. I only drive about 25 miles each days I work and that is not enough to keep the battery fully charged.

I usually charge the battery about once a month to keep it topped of. The start/stops works for a week or two then quits working until I charge it again.

Put your battery on a tender overnight.

Battery can both test fine and low enough on charge that ASS won't work.

This happened to me with a Chevy truck. Auto stop start quit working for about a month then my battery was shot.

How old is your battery. Dime for a $, your battery is about to die.

Speaking from experience.
