NOICE! ....

we have people who have mounted the same tires on 17X9 +30 offset rims on a OBX who report ZERO interference!! Now, you have installed wheels 17X8.5 with a 0 offset which places the rims further out but you say they interfered with the rear crash bars!! Why? what is different? can't wrap my head around it!
Uhh its kinda hard to describe without pictures. So think about the swing arch of turning the wheel L&R. As you push the wheel outward that swing arch diameter increases, which is causing the interference.

That looks REALLY GOOD!
Thanks for sharing.
Did you get any straight on side shots by chance? Just gives me a better idea on wheel well fill and over all proportions since you did no lift.

Does it feel noticeably sluggish now, because of the gearing and the 33s?

Looks great, and I love the bronze wheels!
Uhhh Not really. Noticeable yes but not sluggish. I optioned the 2.7 so its torque kicks in really fast and it had plenty of power. Also the factory 30"s with the 2.7 was really really quick. If anything I'd say its really well balanced now. I think going above 33"s will need regearing.... if you want to keep a proper power band for off roading.

... and for the 2.3/manual crowd, 4.46 gearing .... I just read a review this morning of a manual Base where they felt first gear was pretty low, it revved out pretty quickly.

So we went manual. You can obviously tell when you're behind the wheel it's a 4 cylinder, as 1st gear is low and tachs out pretty quick.

I translated that as "Just begging for taller tires to tame it a little bit!"

So your saying I made it faster!!!!!! Hahaha! ..... This is really helpful thanks, I'll be sure to post-it this until I get it reprogrammed.
Wow, at highway speeds , there's easily enough difference to put you on the wrong side of the ticket/ no ticket line!

My build is a 2 door base non sq 2.3 L. I’m looking to switch out the factory wheels with some 17” ranger wheels (same offset) and 33” tires. So basically the same as the setup pictured but factory wheels.

Does anybody know if this will have the same effect on the speedo as the 0 offset? And if I will need to remove the rear crash bars?

New to this so I appreciate any advice.

I believe the ranger wheels are +55 offset as well. It they are you should be good on clearance. The speedo will be off because that is directly related to tire diameter.

The 33s on my FJ40 are such a far cry from the tiny stockers, that I have to keep my speedo at 42 when I want to go 50. Really need to get that straightened out. Luckily it's a 3 on the tree so it doesn't really like going faster than 45 anyway, lol

about $2,900
Nice savings! New look and added capability achieved. And you have room for other mods as time goes on. Now you just need a lift on that car seat so your little one can see over your head 😂

Really digging these wheels. Any issues going this route on my non-SAS OBX?
