When you go long travel and have to trim up to 4", is all of the trimming going to be isolated on the quarter panels and fenders, or do you think some of the underlying body require trimming/fitting as well? Reason I ask is I've been contemplating the same for mine, a small lift with an emphasis on wheel travel and achieving as much of the clearance with trimming as possible, but would rather keep the quarter panels and fenders original. Instead, I'd buy some ADV quarter panels and trim those out, no love lost there from all the hacking needed.

Well here's a few initial pics of the 40s. Went with yokahama geolander X-MT 40x13.50r17. These are the factory ford beadlock rings. They allow the wheel to become 9.5" wide with the ring, or 8.5 with out. This moves the centerline of the tire out by 1/2". Actually increased the track a full inch.

I'm very happy with the fit and the performance with 5.38 gears and the ford performance tune still feels faster than with no tune,4.7s, and 35s.

Obviously with only a 2" lift above SAS, I will need to do some MORE fender trimming. And will be making new inner fender liners. Im ok with hacking 1"-2" on the fenders radius. Eventually, with long travel I'll need to remove as much as 4" in certain areas.

The one area that the fronts rub even at ride height, is the frame behind the LCAs, at near full lock. This could be remedied with wheel spacers, which I'm not a fan of because they increase scrub dramatically and leverage on the steering components. I'll probably try these temporarily until I can widen the front 3" on each side using Braptor A-arms.

The rear squeeze is very easy and needed almost no trimming initially to be driven moderately. To achieve full compression with my current wheel travel nearly 2" needs to be trimmed.

Yes it appears the front radiator core support bar needs to be modified or.moved forward for 40s to get the same or better compression travel as a Badlands on 33s. Also, various wires, plugs and clamps need re-routed and repositioned. Finally, the airbox needs raised 1", and the fusebox too. I'll be repositioning most of the doodads mounted on the inner fenders.

Aside from those easy things, the outer fenders.need.cut up near the top crease in the arcs radius. The firewall pinch welds that follow the fenders radius need cut off , rewelded, or bent over. Or a combination.

In the rear, the body pinch welds need trimmednor bent over in a few areas and the outer fender skin needs trimmed up near the top of the flat lips radius. About 3.75 " above the fenders lowest lip the flairs mount on....

I looked at a.few of the fiberglass fenders out there and I don't think any were designed with 40s in mind.

Here's a couple pics of the wires I've moved already

This is straight up one of the best builds out there! No ridiculous lift, no giant wheels or huge offset. Big tires with good flex, chefs kiss!

I spy that Trepador on the spare! I love mine, but those geolanders are amazing too.

Looking forward to seeing this offroad!

Wouldn't a proper body lift take care of most of the clearance issues? There are some decent ones out, or you could make your own fairly easily.

Overall it looks good. Certainly will be curious about your fuel economy after all that.

Read the title and came in here expecting it to look out of proportion - I was really surprised how much I like it. Looks great!
Thanks for the kind words....yes I agree the fenders radius finally maches the tires outside radius....looks like they were meant for each other to me, but I'm biased. Lol

I thought about doing a body lift kit mostly for the ability to raise the fuel tank up into the body area and gain ground clearance not so much for tire clearance ...but I just don't like body lifts, and I'd probably won't ever do that

I generally don't like them if I only have seen ones that others have done in pictures or such. But the 1.5 or 2 inch lift seems perfect for the bronco, and likely would handle most of your issues without further messing with the suspension.
